D.E.A. Roadshow Hits Times Square

Opening September 14 at Times Square....the traveling museum of the DEA featuring ""Target America: Traffickers, Terrorists & You". Its basic spiel:

The DEA's describes the new exhibit as tracing "...the historic and contemporary connections between global drug trafficking and terrorism. Starting with the horrific events of September 11, 2001 and moving back in time to the ancient Silk Road, this exhibit…will present the visitor with a global and historical overview of this deadly connection. The visitor will have many opportunities to explore the often-symbiotic relationships that exist between terrorist groups and drug trafficking cartels and the personal impact those connections have on the visitor."

Oh really? Than why is the DEA spending more time busting medical marijuana growers and patients than terrorists?

'There have been more arrests for medical marijuana cultivation and distribution since September 11, than there have been for any acts of terrorism in California.' "

Instead of paying attention to the DEA's campaign, or worse, attending it, check out the Marijuana Policy Project's counter-campaign, Target America: The DEA and You.

The DEA and the White House want the public to believe that drugs are inherently connected with terrorism, and that anyone who uses illegal drugs supports terrorists. In fact, it is the "War on Drugs" that promotes terrorism, and the DEA and its law enforcement allies regularly commit terrorist acts: They take medicine from the seriously ill, jail their caregivers, and murder innocent, unarmed people with no evidence and no trial.

Here's more:

The DEA regularly engages in terrorist acts itself, sending armed squads to storm medical clinics in California, seize confidential patient records and literally take medicine away from the sick and dying. These raids have occurred despite strong objections from local health and public safety officials.

The MPP counter-exhibit is dedicated to the memory of Esequiel Hernandez, killed on May 20, 1997, an innocent victims of the Drug War.

18-year-old Esequiel Hernandez, pictured here along with his grave, was tending his father's goats 100 yards from his home in Redford, Texas on May 20, 1997, when he was shot and killed by U.S. Marines patrolling for marijuana smugglers. Hernandez had no criminal record and was not a drug suspect. His only crime was living in a location sometimes frequented by marijuana smugglers, and his death was the inevitable result of a "War on Drugs" fought with a real war's disregard for human life.

Also read Drug War Rant on the DEA exhibit, which it calls "sick, disgusting, and offensive." And its 2003 post on the exhibit, which it labels "Propoganda and Terrorism."

Target America." Yep, that's exactly what the DEA has been doing for decades -- destroying lives, filling prisons, eviscerating rights, stifling research, and spreading lies.

"Traffickers, Terrorists and You." Mostly "You." Remember that traffickers profit because of the war on drugs. And to the extend that terrorists benefit from drug profits it is also because of the profitability caused by the war on drugs. So that leaves... The DEA is targeting You. And you're paying for it.
