Jeff Jarvis smells a New York Times editor with a grudge against blogs. The paper ran an article on tsunami blogs and trashed them today. [Via Instapundit.]

Meanwhile, Dan Gillmor reports that a new Pew study shows that while blogs are increasing, their readership is increasing at an even greater rate. Dan has just begun a new weblog on grassroots journalism...about the future of journalism, "by the people and for the people."

    Blogs are the new pamphleteers, the soapbox, the opinionated and honest/dishonest future of journalism. Print jouralism is dead if it can't transform to narrative as opposed opinion journalism. Print is yesterday. Television gives us the pictures of a few hours ago...the internet is NOW. As the dinosaurs watched the meteor streak through the sky without comprehension of the end result of its arrival so does the MSM with the emergence of the weblogs. The screams you hear (imagine Godzilla sounds) is the last wails of the NYT,WPO,LAT,CNN,etc.

    Also seems that they have missed that some might have been deliberately sarcastic. Not that bloggers are known for that afterall. :)
