Ten Pre-Teens Strip-Searched in Texas

Ok, this is carrying the law and order thing way too far. Charter school officials in Texas strip-searched ten 11 and 12 year olds, "down to their underwear," looking for a ten dollar bill another student reported missing. Can you imagine if it were drugs they were looking for? Cavity searches, for sure.

This wasn't even in a backwater town. It was 40 miles from Houston. [link via Last One Speaks.]

    Inch by inch, and step by step, we become a police state. The worst part, no one seems bothered by it, until their kid (or themselves) gets dehumanized.

    read about this through rawstory.com the other day. according to the local police chief, they did nothing illegal, as far as he can see. apparently, this guy never saw a 4th amendment violation he didn't like. i think the school principal missed her calling, she should really be a guard at abu gharaib. there seems to be a minor epidemic of this happening, or are we just hearing more about it nowadays?

    I don't know. There was this in the story... "Green said the school has conducted such searches in the past without calling parents." "Never had a complaint," she said. "I can't say if it happened again I wouldn't do the same thing." Of course you wouldn't have a complaint you dumb sh*t if you conducted the searches without the parent's knowledge!

    Actually, 40 miles from Houston proper and you're stll in the Burbs. Forty miles from the burb circle and you're in the boonies. Amazing that the kids all went along with it. I can't imagine why someone didn't kick up a fuss. 0-C

    "Christian" obedience can be a really handy thing for wannabe facists. How else can you get them ready for Texas Officer Freeman?

    Are you saying backwater towns strip search their children? Out here in the backwater, we associate such behavior with the sinful city.

    Strip search 'em without ANY suspicion of a crime: the kid said his 10-spot was MISSING, i.e., that he LOST it.

    Good point Cliff, I am surprised the kids went along as well. Don't parents teach their kids not to let strangers disrobe them anymore, especially strangers in a position of authority over them? This is dangerously close to pedophilia.

    what the "H" Can we say child molestation? human rights, transgression up the "you know what" can we say count system, big money for the kids for college? can we say people in prison being strip searched? can we say new job opennings in the schools system?

    yes kitt, i saw that as well. i often wonder if, upon reading their statements quoted in the newspaper, any of these people say to themselves "oh my god, how could i have said something that stupid to a reporter?" probably not. in order to think that, you would first have to recognize how stupid it actually was.

    There was a fuss in Stroudsberg (burg?) in PA about some gyn exams on prepubescent kids in a gym. I listened to several educators say there was nothing wrong, including a tape on the state dept of ed phone. I don't recall anybody got into trouble. Possibly the parents who objected were asked to take their kids elsewhere. Far worse than this.

    And that - cp, is why I don't talk to no stinking reporters. I'm one of those who although truly a genius (in my estimation) somehow cannot manage to have words come out of my mouth in a coherent fashion when under 'pressure.'

    I hope the parents sue the teachers, the principal, the district, and the school board! Imagine being treated this way at the office as an adult! It would be humiliating and abusive. Those poor children were treated like chattel and I hope their parents make a strong stand on their behalf.

    Allie, I don't think anybody got any satisfaction in East Stroudsburg, and that was worse. Face it. Effing with kids is a risk-free activity when the educrats do it.

    La Marque is too a back-water town...just because it's 40 miles from Houston doesn't mean it's not full of rednecks. Take it from someone who lived there a long time. That certainly doesn't excuse what they did.

    I personally think all the ones that was involved in the strip seach of those children should be fired, and never work with children again.

    They're training these kids to be perfect citizens in a police state. The $10 bill was not found on any of them. Any one who defended his rights and refused to be searched would have been expelled, arrested, treated with suspicion or ostracized.
