    Darn funny. Domino's was the first direct-to-consumer company to perfect and deploy CID (Caller ID) and CT (Computer Telephony) on top of an integrated customer database - they estimated it drove sales 20%+ after deployment. Anyway, the other thing that makes this funny is that the founder of Domino's, Tom Monaghan, is a well known abortion foe and Buchanesque conservative. -C

    Wal-Mart, (my employer, ((unfortunately))), reputedly already has more personal data on file than the entire U.S. Government. Who's that behind you?

    The reality is that this would never happen, because the people who warehouse this data don't want you to know how much they know.

    great thanks for this link. I have donated to the ACLU and had no troubles whatsoever. Just lots of magazine offers, but at some low rates.

    I donated to Amnesty International in 1987 at a U2 concert. It's almost 18 years later, five houses later, and I still get mail. Besides laws, is there any type of technology or business venture which can be undertaken to deal with this? My guess is that there probably is since necessity is the motherhood of invention.

    Silly Repugs. If they're against the ACLU, then that means they're also against the Bill of Rights/the Constitution because that's what the ACLU is trying to protect.

    Good point hardy, if not for the good work of the ACLU, who would protect our rights from constant threats, the Justice Dept.? Ha! Those sworn to protect the Bill of Rights seem intent to destroy it.

    Wile, I appreciated the link. It served to remind me that at least the ACLU will police itself and at least try to correct the errors of it's ways. Sometimes internal turmoil is a good thing. It means someone is challenging things, not just towing the line. You can't say that about many others these days.

    The sad thing is that I actually see this happening very soon. Sadder still that some (heck, most) people will accept this because the people behind it will package it as a "security" measure or anti-identity theft measure. Last year a friend of mine wanted to get his hair cut. He chose a barbershop he had heard good things about so when he went in to make an appointment they wanted him to fill out forms, which he didn't mind until he came to the part where they wanted his Social Security number. He objected and they told him they wouldn't take him on as a customer unless he gave them his SS #. They said, you got it, that it was for "security" reasons. He was outraged and left. No offense, but the people who cut my hair have no business knowing my SS #. It doesn't seem as bad as the ACLU ad, but once someone has your SS #, they can do real damage to you. Scary stuff.
