Three Indicted on Terror Charges

Three men have been indicted on terrorism charges related to alleged planned attacks on financial institutions. The indictment is new, but we've all heard the details before:

A four-count indictment unsealed Tuesday accuses Dhiran Barot, Nadeem Tarmohammed and Qaisar Shaffi of scouting the New York Stock Exchange and Citicorp Building in New York, the Prudential Building in Newark, N.J., and the International Monetary Fund and World Bank in the District of Columbia.

The men are now in custody in England. The U.S. says one, Barot, is a leading al Qaeda figure. Now, the familiar details:

Prosecutors say the men conducted surveillance on the buildings between August 2000 and April 2001, including video surveillance in Manhattan around April 2001. U.S. officials have previously described detailed surveillance photos and documents, which they believe came from Barot, that were found on a computer that was seized in Pakistan last summer.

The terror information is years old. Agonist has the details and discrepancies in reports on the seized computer. Last August, Debka was skeptical of the information.

CNN has more on today's indictment and the arrests in Britain last August and of the Pakistani with the computer last July.

They're issuing indictments now? That's quaint, to borrow a word from Alberto Gonzalez. Either they have something on these guys, or they've been sued into this action a la Ahmed Abu Ali.

"The terror information is years old." The information may be years old, but the popularity crisis is here and now!

Sounds Like a setup by MI-5,Remember the boys need a threat to keep people in line, did the jokers and little rats plan this? or was it one more setup to have people running around and yelling for help and handing away rights of a people to an insane government that will not protect its own borders? our boys are working hard hours with MI-5,and others, And our boys will do anything to make bush's point about removing your civil and human rights, read:"The war on terror" also why is our non government helping the chinese military build anit-ship missiles, is that also a conspiracy?

Well said beemer, just what I was thinking, how quaint. Seriously, I'm glad they get their day in court, and not prison w/o due process.

beemer.... They're issuing indictments now? They just got the info last summer....and as you know....it takes time to get the facts together & build a case. After all, you wouldn't want all the bleeding heart libs complaining that the gov. rushed to judgment and are just out to persecute these poor innocent people...would you? By the way...if they are guilty (and I believe that they are) what does the passage of time have to do with it? Should we not prosecute the next murderer because he killed 10 years ago?
