'Round the MSM Bloggerhood

Thanks to Howard Kurtz of the Washington Post and AOL News' Blog Zone for mentioning TalkLeft today.

First, Howard:

Attorney Jeralyn Merritt of TalkLeft doesn't think much of DeLay saying he had made "inartful" remarks on targeting judges:

"If one of my clients gave this kind of apology at a sentencing, the judge would throw the book at him. . . . "He's not sorry for the content of his intemperate remarks, only for the way he phrased them. That's like saying he isn't sorry for the crime, only that he got caught."

AOL BlogNews picked up on blog coverage of Sen. Bill Frist's threat to go nuclear:

Daily Kos outlines some news stories about Frist. And Rightsided takes exception to those news reports. Captain wonders what GOP "milquetoasts" are waiting for.

Frist has backed himself into a corner, says Talk Left. And Blue Vertical Studio reports on the makeup of American federal courts.

MSNBC's Connected Coast to Coast has a list of blogs they've featured on the show on just about every political and social related topic.

And Not part of the mainstream media, bloggers are all over Frist. Joe at The Moderate Voice has an extensive roundup of bloggers on both sides. Religion blogger Chuck Currie has a long and thoughtful post on Frist:

Don’t be fooled into thinking Bill Frist or his right-wing allies represent Christianity. What they truly represent are political hacks willing to misuse Christian tradition for their own political agenda. The president wants to pack the courts with people who have opposed civil rights legislation, worked to limit health care options for women, and who support intrusive governmental powers to pry into our personal and political lives. We cannot allow them to succeed.

Chuck also has the responses of several interfaith leaders to Frist. Question: What's an "interfaith leader?" Is it someone who subscribes to more than one faith? Someone who represents more than one faith? A group of leaders sharing one faith? I never heard that term before.

Swing State Project has a post on a coalition of religious organizations attacking Frist, with links.

“Interfaith leaders” refers to those of various religious backgrounds (Christian, Jewish, Muslim, etc.) who work with each other on different issues or even have theological dialogue to find common ground on religious fronts. Hope that helps. Thanks for the link.

To me this entire matter around "The Nuclear option" speaks more to the repuglican "disfunctional" party than anything else. They seem to lack any concept of manipulating bi partisenship to achieve their goals. Their knee jerk response of blaming the Democrats confirms their lack of skill in this area. They don't seem to get it. One of Bush's Proudest achievments "No child left behind" was Bi-partisen, just think a Kennedy/Bush accomplishment, Wow. Yet the repugs blew it. They betrayed their promise to fund it! They just don't get it.
