Pat Robertson: Judges Worse Than al Qaeda

Pat Robertson was on ABC's "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" yesterday. He said that federal judges are a bigger threat than al Qaeda.

"Over 100 years, I think the gradual erosion of the consensus that's held our country together is probably more serious than a few bearded terrorists who fly into buildings," Robertson said on ABC's "This Week with George Stephanopoulos." "I think we have controlled Al Qaeda," the 700 Club host said, but warned of "erosion at home" and said judges were creating a "tyranny of oligarchy."

"I think they are destroying the fabric that holds our nation together."

On a related note, the News reports that a GOP aide advises that Frist is short the 50 votes he needs for his nuclear option:

Sources told the Daily News that Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist lacks the 50 votes he needs, which could be a blow to his presidential hopes. "I don't think Frist has the votes," a GOP aide said. "He's now in his own corner. If he doesn't have the votes, he's really screwed."

Isn't it lovely how national policy is determined by men who are wondering how it'll affect their presidential chances in the future? Isn't it just peachy?

How nice of Pat to take time off from stealing from grandmothers to spew his nonsensical rhetoric.

Frist like Delay made a stratigic move to embrace the fundies with little consideration for the middle and moderate repugs as well as the Country. They and their the party are paying the price. The more these guys pander to the fundies the more they expose their rotten under belly!

What do Robert Tilton, Pat Robertson, Benny Hinn and Jerry Falwell all have in common? Bad haircuts, dude...that's about as far as Blaghdaddy gets when they start talking, then the remote gets a workout. Although, when Blaghdaddy was an innocent country boy in a big city university, his jaw dropped when he saw Rober Tilton on late-night T.V. Blaghdaddy watched him every night if he came across the guy, 'cause he couldn't believe a guy could come on television, talk in 'tongues' (Bill Clinton, move over), and ask little old ladies to buy his "blessed prayer cloths" which were cut-up neckerchiefs and not be struck by lightning...that's when Blaghdaddy discovered that God didn't exist... Any God who represents this crowd is the same one telling people to fly planes into buildings- they're all drinkin' Jimmy Jones cocktails come Judgement Day.

Hmm. I wonder, if John Kerry said that Pat Robertson is a greater threat than al-Qaeda, would the wingnuts ever let it go? Or, for that matter, Alec Baldwin?

I hope this stuff is remembered when election day rolls around. The midterm elections cannot come too soon to suit me. The judges are a bigger threat than al-qaeda? God help us.

I don't think i would go that far as to say That Rat Pat Robertson is worse than Bin Laden, but we are making this once great place into that land that al qaead wants us to become, Old Robertson will see his god soon, and i say good lucy to him, but also remember we are making our own doom, and making this once great nation into what, you said, "A Land of tyranny of oligarchies"(Just like mexico) but also remember you can stop this madness by just being Americans and not little third world people. stand up and fight back, but the millions, and that will never happen, so be happy in your new or old oppression, but remember some of us will still be fighting for the old nation.

One has to wonder if Pat Robertson even matters? Anymore than, say, any toher right wing religious lunatic? He is better off buried among cable TV channels

If Robertson turns out the vote with his demogogery (sp?) then he matters, and he and his ilk have been able to do that for the past twenty years. Imagine if democrats could turn out poor people to vote, and the polling places actually allowed them to vote and counted their votes. This is how we end up with the American Taliban in power. Don't underestimate the danger of suggesting that our judiciary, now the lone protectors of our constitutional freedoms, is the enemy.

CA, well said. One Oliver Cromwell in history is too many, and these superstitious fools would foist an american version on us in a heartbeat, given the opportunity. Luckily for democracy, the wingnuttery their fanaticism leads them to is often as politically astute as Cromwell's son.

Thinking of the judiciary as a proxy for the entire leftwing agenda, one may begin to get a glimmer of what Rev. Pat was raving about. The American left has certainly cost the world more lives to date than Al Qaeda. By comparison, Al Qaeda is a much smaller, more concentrated, less organized, and more easily defeated enemy.
