Funniest Filibuster Blog Post

August J. Pollard of Xoverboard gets my vote for the funniest blog post yet on the filibuster. Here's just two paragraphs, go over and read the whole thing:

So I walk in the door and turn on the TV to check out the "all-nighter" session the Senate declared and to see if Bill Frist was wearing the Spongebob pajamas James Dobson bought him and instead get the most fearsome of images in the form of Joe Lieberman trying to smile. I apparently already missed the speeches from Mike DeWine explaining that his name was Mike DeWine and he was actually a United States Senator, and Robert Byrd telling a story about how he knew Ben Franklin.

....That said, a deal. Sort of. From what I'm reading, and by that I mean from what I'm reading on other weblogs, Democrats agree not to filibuster as long as Republicans agree not to stop them from filibustering, unless the Democrats do, which they won't, unless it's really important, but not if fingers were crossed, and something about no backsies. Also, everyone gets a free cot.

By the way, if you are a college student interested in writing over the summer, check out the Campus Progress Summer Blogathon. College students can write about politics, work, life or anything else. Some will win prizes and a chance to write for CampusProgress.org. Like August and Ezra. It was over at Ezra's that I saw the reference to August's funny post.

Unfunniest outcome Owens is now confirmed It is pretty hard to spin this as any kind of a win for Democrats. The proof is in the confirmations and the rightiewhites used McCain to get what they wanted and he was happy to us be used. He has come out of this with the most positive press and the right still gets the looney judges How embarrassing for the rest of the federal judges.
