300 Agents Take Down the Bandidos

What's up with this? 300 agents in a choreographed simulcast bust the Bandidos in the Western U.S? Why not Osama? Oh, it's the ATF, the folks that brought us Ruby Ridge and Waco. Never mind.

Today more than 300 federal, state and local law enforcement officers have teamed up to execute 21 search warrants and 32 arrest warrants across the Northwest. This investigation centered in Bellingham, Washington, addresses federal firearm and narcotic violations, allegedly committed by members or associates of the Bandidos Outlaw Motorcycle Organization. Additional search and arrest warrants are being executed in the states of Montana & South Dakota.

    Good job guys! Never mind those who think the world has to stop until we catch OBL. A lot of bad people went to jail today.

    No,No patrick its not about bad guys its about getting you use to seeing agents picking people up off the street, so when it starts all over the place you won't say anything. but isn't Fascinating to see where its happening first and isn't it so ploitically right for bush, not to start on the mexican border but way up in the far western states. many of the people have not done anything to be attacked, its all just the start of the coming show, and what a show that will be in the coming outrageous madness. I have my Gun do you? the fighting will start soon, long live the ideals of a dead nation once called America.

    Well, the govt. had already tackled the great threat posed by Tommy Chong and his weapons of mass destruction, the obvious next step was motorcycle gangs. We will get to the people who actually blow things up and commit mass murder eventually.

    Right! At least I can tell the difference between an outlaw motocycle gang..er.. excuse me, motorcyle enthusiasts and terrorists. Kdog, Are you aware of any bombings or mass murders that aren't being investigated? I thought not. *Waiting for the obligatory Bush = mass murderer comments*

    Biker gangs are notoriously vicious and pose as great a threat as the mob in my mind so this is a good thing. However, I don't need a press release or a documentary telling me they are doing their jobs. It is after, their job right?

    Well, GDub did say he wasn't concerned about Osama's whereabouts, does that count? I also don't think the feds are looking for the co-conspirators in the OK City bombing. The post says the raids were in regards to weapons and drug charges, not unsolved murders or assaults. So yes, I think their are violent criminals that we should go after first.

    I personally believe President Bush's comments were meant to indicate that OBL is no longer the threat he once was, and not that we were no longer interested in catching him. There are people who are a more urgent problem. I think the OK City case is closed, but I can't comment on its status intelligently because I just don't know. But it was investigated, sorry if it wasn't to your satisfaction. LEO's can't pick and chose which crimes they investigate. Despite the fact that there are on-going murder investigations within my own agency, we still have people dealing with the day to day operations, including crimes, animal complaints, drug investigations etc. Just because there is a more serious issue doesn't mean the less serious ones are ignored.

    I understand your point Pat. You and I have conversed enough to know I get nervous and leery when 300 armed feds start storming houses. If the gang has hurt people, I hope they face justice. I still contend there are bigger fish to fry. I guess we will have to wait for the press conference to see if they have any actual victims to go with all these crimes/arrests. In a time of so called "war on terror", shouldn't the ATF put the alcohol (legal), tobacco (legal), and firearms (legal) aside for a moment and help another agency find some potential terrorists?

    In a time of so called "war on terror", shouldn't the ATF put the alcohol (legal), tobacco (legal), and firearms (legal) aside for a moment and help another agency find some potential terrorists?
    IMO, no they should not.
