Justice Thomas Suggests No Resignations Are Imminent

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas spoke in Georgia today at a Judge's swearing in ceremony:

Thomas noted that his court ended its term on Monday as "winds of controversy swirled about the Court's decisions and, unfortunately, about the imagined resignations."

From his mouth to Bush's ear. Let's hope Rehnquist and O'Connor last out Bush's term. [Via CrimProf Blog].

I have had the honor of arguing before the Big Court and I watch at least one day of oral argument a year. While not in perfect health, Justice O'Connor is still sharp, respectful of lawyers' arguments (unlike Scalia), gracious to all (ditto), and, in many cases, writes what becomes the opinion of the court; e.g. Williams v. Taylor where her opinion is the fifth vote and the one everybody cites. Four more years!

Let's hope Rehnquist and O'Connor last out Bush's term.
This is one situation where "close" counts. If those two can just hang in there until Bush's term is almost over, the Senate can run the ball from there.

Let's hope Rehnquist and O'Connor last out Bush's term. The irony of cheering for Rhenquist's staying on the court because something worse lies down the road is worthy of a sardonic laugh. Oy.

I am extremely glad that no one resigned yesterday. The thought of those moronic false-Christian morons choosing someone to interpret the constitution is scary as hell.

If we're lucky, Uncle Thomas will be the one who leaves the highest bench. I'm ready for him to go.
