Arianna Alleges Cheney Hospital Cover Up

Arianna is still on top of the visit VP Dick Cheney made to the Vail Valley Medical Center last week. Cheney's office has officially denied he had an EKG while in Vail. Arianna says,

This morning, a source close to the hospital told me that, in fact, the vice president was administered “a 12 lead EKG” by a nurse in the cardiac unit. “The hospital has put a clamp on all discussions of the Cheney visit,” my source told me. “Each department was asked to gather its employees and give them a short HIPAA Privacy Rule lesson. People were told that anyone who is treating a patient and discloses information could be fined up to $50,000 and 5 years in jail. And if it’s malicious, it can be $100,000 and 10 years in jail.” A nurse speaking to our source said, her voice shaking: ‘I can’t talk to you about this...

Can anyone tell me why we should care? If he falls over dead, we'll replace him. If he is sick, he'll be treated.

I for one don't care. I am just sick of him tying up traffic during his frequent visits to schmooze the kingpins of the Dutch Mafia in west Michigan, then sticking the local gov't with the bill for security.

The man has had a heart condition forever, so he got an EKG and wants to keep it quiet, makes no sense to me why this would be a surprise to anyone.

I'm humorously reminded of her friend Al Franken's old skits on Saturday Night Live, as the remote reporter on the newscast segment, satellite dish on his head. One segment in particular, back when the Yankees were sucking hose, and he was doing a "George Steinbrenner Health Watch". Or the cheesey narrator from the old cheesier Batman TV series: "Could this be the end of Dick? Tune in next week, same Dick time, same Dick channel..." Seriously, tho, I wish him the, ahem, best. Wink wink, nudge nudge, say n'more.

"Posted by Jlvngstn: "The man has had a heart condition forever, so he got an EKG and wants to keep it quiet," The man is the, cough, VP. The health condition of the executive is generally expected to be PUBLIC. Personally, I think Cheney should be rotting in prison for his crimes or worse, but since you are so mystified, I'll reiterate what Ernesto (?) pointed out: an ECG on a patient with a PACEMAKER is a waste of paper, unless you want to test the pacemaker. Since Cheney's shoe shop spilled the beans that he now has SQUARE FEET (from a 9E to 9EEE, or some such), bilateral edema in the feet being a fundamental sign of impending heart failure, people are naturally interested in the possibility that he will meet his Unmaker. I happily admit to quite a bit of curiosity about his 'rapid deployment' to a hostile 'shore,' myself.
