Committee investigates leaking of classified information:

SENATE AND HOUSE DEMOCRATIC PANELS TO HOLD OVERSIGHT HEARING ON NATIONAL SECURITY CONSEQUENCES OF DISCLOSING THE IDENTITY OF A COVERT INTELLIGENCE OFFICER 10:00 AM -- FRIDAY, JULY 22

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) -- The U.S. Senate Democratic Policy Committee (DPC) and the U.S. House Government Reform Committee Minority will conduct a joint hearing at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 22, in Room 138 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building in Washington, DC, to examine the national security implications of disclosing the identity of a covert intelligence officer. The hearing will be co-chaired by Senate DPC Chairman Byron Dorgan (D-ND), and U.S. Rep. Henry A. Waxman (D-CA), the Ranking Member of the House Government Reform Committee.

The panel of witnesses will include former intelligence officers and analysts who will discuss the impact of such disclosures, based on decades of experience and service to our country on intelligence and national security matters.

The hearing comes only days after the witnesses who will appear at the hearing, along with other former intelligence officers and analysts, delivered to the House and Senate leadership a letter expressing deep concern over both the disclosure of the identity of a covert intelligence officer and the continuing partisan attacks on that officer. The letter said that public statements questioning her status and the significance of disclosing her identity ³reveal an astonishing ignorance of the intelligence community and the role of cover.

Too bad it won't mean anything. Of course it should mean something, but the Republicans in charge will act as though it's not happening, and the press will follow suit.

watch out if anyone with the initials KR or RN come looking for immunity. just sayin'

I guess the Dems can hold any hearings they want but I hope they use more discretion than the last time they held one in the janitor's closet in the basement of the Capitol Building The last time it turned into an anti-Israel/quasi anti-semitic hearing which certain Dems said they had left the room before the comments were made (wink, wink, nod, nod). If Dorgan and Waxman are involved it will be a feast for right wing buzzards to dine upon in the coming weeks. The company you keep reflects upon you. Anti-semite ex-CIA agent is given comfort by the Left? Who'd a thunk it. How low can the Left go? Perhaps signing on with crystal meth snorting KKK members or perhaps the La Raza racsist bands, maybe Ward Churchill can fill your ranks! There is a reason I don't use the word Liberal to describe the Left anymore because reactionary would be more apropos.

You guys are busy crowning non-Christian Messiahs. Conyers is trying to out evidence of treason. Do the math.

Paul in LA, As far as the jokers who crowned Moon in that ceremony they are not my boys because I am not a Republican. I far as I'm concerned any politician that got sucked into that deal and didn't make for the door before the sham coronation took place should be keel-hauled or at least voted out of office. And yes that was a joke of kangaroo court Conyers et al held in the basement of the Capitol and yes it was replete with a cast of antisemite ex-CIA agents, wild eyed conspiracy nuts and the ubiquitous Mr Plame. Boy what a glorious day for the Dems even the ones who say they left early (Franks, Nadler) before the Jew-bashing got started. It was in one word, pathetic.
