Red Cross Distributes Saddam's Prison Letter

A letter written in jail by Saddam Hussein has been distributed by the Red Cross and published.

"I and my family offer ourselves as a sacrifice for this nation, including dear Palestine and our steadfast, beloved, and wretched Iraq," he writes."Life without faith, love and the inherited traditions of our nation is destruction.

"He who sacrifices his property and soul for his nation is but doing a little because this nation deserves much to be done." He ends the letter: "Long live Palestine. Love your nation."

The Red Cross says it collected the letter and it is genuine.

"The ICRC has confirmed the authenticity of the message published in the Jordanian media," said Rana Sidani, spokeswoman for the ICRC's Iraq delegation in Amman.

"The ICRC collected the message. It was censored by the detaining authorities before being handed over to the ICRC for distribution."

That is the job of the Red Cross, but what did saddam really have to do with 9-11?..abd yes saddam is as evil as hitler but where is bin laden? i would free saddam to get-to bin laden. but i would also put bush in saddam cell.

It don't get no more absurd that that. One hopes he would understand the irony of his letter even being SEEN by the outside world. The ironies abound so plentifully, this liberal doesn't even know what to say about them.

Love to see a copy of it.
    You read Arabic?

No but I do like the way it looks. What I really want is to see a translation. Too much secrecy around him, makes me wonder.
