AP: Rove to Testify Again in Leaks Probe

Update: The AP reports Karl Rove will testify again in the leaks probe. One last chance to avoid indictment?

Federal prosecutors have accepted an offer from presidential adviser Karl Rove to give 11th hour testimony in the case of a CIA officer's leaked identity but have warned they cannot guarantee he won't be indicted, according to people directly familiar with the investigation.

Update: More details here.

Original Post:

Over at HuffPo, Lawrence O'Donnell predicts at least three indictments of high-level White House officials. He says Fitz will tell the defense lawyers they have one more chance to come in, rat out others and make a deal.

Rove's lawyer Robert Luskin won't confirm to O'Donnell whether he's been notified by Fitzgerald that he is soon to be an Indictee. Which means, Rove could already be working out a deal or otherwise trying to resolve the charges pre-Indictment. Or, Rove hasn't decided what to do so he's staying quiet until then.

O'Donnell has updated his post: "So, Luskin is sending Rove back into the grand jury to try to get around the prosecutor and sell his innocence directly to the grand jurors. Legal defense work doesn't get more desperate than this. The prosecutor is happy to let Rove go under oath again--without his lawyer in the room--and try to wiggle out of the case. The prosecutor has every right to expect that Rove's final under-oath grilling will either add a count or two to the indictment or force Rove to flip and testify against someone else."

The thing about the CIA leak that bothers me is the reason the leakers leaked. Joe Wilson found out that the Bush administration was lying about Iraq and he let people know. The Bush minions had to demonize him and discredit him. We need to remember this.

A bit OT but I'm sure we all remember Mr. Franklin. This administration is an intelligence siv. the sooner they are out, the safer we will be.

Does anyone NOT remember the absolutely over-the-top, frothing at the mouth, kettle-banging non-stop noise which the freepers (both in Congress and out) made all during the Clinton administration? Can anyone imagine if they'd had real stuff like this to work with? The silence from the "rule of law" loudmouths is deafening.
