Even in Death, Chicago Man Needles Republicans

by Last Night in Little Rock

Theodore Roosevelt Heller's obituary in today's Chicago Tribune showed he was a man of high character. When he was wounded in WWII, he forced his way back into the Illinois National Guard "insisting no one tells [me] when to serve [my] country."

Even in death, Heller showed still continues to serve his country:

Theodore Roosevelt Heller, 88, loving father of Charles (Joann) Heller; dear brother of the late Sonya (the late Jack) Steinberg. Ted was discharged from the U.S. Army during WWII due to service related injuries, and then forced his way back into the Illinois National Guard insisting no one tells him when to serve his country. Graveside services Tuesday 11 a.m. at Waldheim Jewish Cemetery (Ziditshover section), 1700 S. Harlem Ave., Chicago. In lieu of flowers, please send acerbic letters to Republicans. Arrangements by Chicago Jewish Funerals, Douglas MacIsaac, funeral director 847-229-8822, www.cjfinfo.com.

And, being a Chicagoan, he can continue to vote Democratic.

I was just about to congratulate LNILR on a killer post when roy went and doubled the ante. Kudos to both!

ras - And as many times as they need him to! On a more serious note, I honor his service and his determination in both war and politics.

Jim, And a sense of humor to boot!

Hilarious. Now you wingers can go read the Conyers report, and realize that you didn't win in 2004, the nation LOST. [remainder deleted, off topic] Is that ascerbic enough, Teddy? R.I.P.

PinLA, nice non-sequitiur. You gotta love a wise-ass even in death. Mr Heller thanks for the service and the post-mortum laughs. RIP.

Jim, The problem is the only thing funny about this post and thread is the actual line in the obituary. The rest is barely a tenth original. Chicago was the corrupt demo kingdom, what, maybe forty-five years ago? Less than a decade later Chicago's lefty cops were beating in the heads of those convention protesters. Message to the right: humor needs to be a tad fresh in order to not be, er, stale. That is, not funny; weak. Excuse me while I go oil my birkenstocks and fix my solar-powered granola machine so I can satisfy the munchies I get while watching DVD's of Fidel Castro speeches.
