RoveGate Update

A must-read: Ray McGovern's "Cheney's chickens come home to roost."

The Wall St. Journal (free link) reports:

Officials who know Mr. Libby say he was almost certainly trying to shield Mr. Cheney from Mr. Wilson's charges that the White House manipulated prewar intelligence on Iraq. What is unknown is whether Mr. Libby's conversations with reporters were done on impulse, or part of a larger, scripted White House effort to discredit and punish Mr. Wilson by disclosing that his wife, Valerie Plame, worked at the Central Intelligence Agency. The grand jury on the case has also four times questioned White House deputy chief of staff Karl Rove.

WaPO has more details on Rove's last grand jury appearance in which sources familiar with his testimony (if it's not Luskin, I bet it's Ben Ginsberg) say Rove told the grand jury he learned of Plame's identity from Libby who said he learned it from Russert.

This Counterpunch timeline by Former NSC staffer Roger Morris is well-worth re-reading.

Great piece by McGovern. For a bit of diversion read this old (feb 05) WaPo bio piece on Fitzgerald. Hope he doesn't get 'Borked', like Cox did. hat tip to robot wisdom

This is getting to be a little too much to bear..... Why did Bush go to war? At the urging of influential Zionists in this country? Didn't the NY Times and the Wash Post basically check-off on the war? Didn't this site check-off on the war until we were entrenched in it? This BS about manipulation of intelligence is just that; BS. Everyone knew Iraq was impotent yet they invaded anyway, with the full cooperation of the Democrats, the "liberal" media and the pressures of the Zionist influence on congress and the president. Alot of people have blood on their hands with this screw-up.

These pieces coming now seem to share the pretense that Bush isn't a full conspirator, but was 'led astray' by Evil Dick and Ronald McRumsfeld. "If only the Fuhrer knew" is not only in the history books. Can you say Bushliar administration 'Cheney' Energy Meetings? Can you say Nine-eleven and a "New Pearl Harbor"? I knew you could. Try "mushroom cloud." Bush Must Resign.

Here it comes. LWW wants it to be OUR fault. SIXTY PERCENT of the House Dems voted NAY, and the leadership was changed to ANTI-INVASION Nancy Pelosi. Remember what you all said about Rep. Pelosi back then -- going to destroy the party, anti-America, etc.? Half the Senate Dems voted NAY. Remember when the R clowns in the Senate called Majority Leader Daschle a 'traitor'? Remember when Rs like you insulted the Dem party for not 'supporting the president'? Remember when senior Senator Byrd, in his Senate speech, 'America the Peacemaker Becomes America the Warmonger,' on March 11, 2003 (pre-invasion) said,
I believe this coming war is a grave mistake, not because Saddam Hussein does not deserve to be disarmed or driven from power, not because some of our allies object to war, but because Iraq does not pose an imminent threat to the security of the United States. There is no question that the United States has the military might to defeat Saddam Hussein, but we are on much shakier ground when it comes to the question of why this nation, under the current circumstances, is rushing to unleash the horrors of war on the people of Iraq.
That's where we are, and it's because of clowns like YOU, LWW. You earned it -- wear it. You have made Hitler proud. Now quit trying to troll this thread off-topic and go away.

I never supported the war, NEVER. So save it and stow it because you know I'm right. Tell me where I'm wrong instead of trying to smear me.

They didn't "snooker" anybody. That's the point. When you influence actions you don't after a short time turn on your operatives; President, congress etc... That's what gets me .

Didn't this site check-off on the war until we were entrenched in it? No. that's a lie that you've trotted out before and was debunked before. At least try a different lie.

Gee, LWW, what about "quit trying to troll this thread off-topic" didn't you understand? The thread is about Cheney and Rumsfeld supposedly lying and cajoling Bushliar into going to war. That's idiotic, but a common sort of extentions of the 'Bushliar magic' that has you lot so ensnared in self-love. Blaming the Dems? Save it for an open thread. You are trolling off-topic, in order to defend Cheney and Rumsfeld, two war criminals. And yet you didn't support the invasion? Then why are you protecting the invaders?

I still beat my dead wife.... You can nod and wink all you want but you won't deter me. WHY did we fight this war? What does outing Joe Wilson's wife have to do with it? Nothing. This was a bogus war. Everyone can agree on it...almost. Why did we embark on the war? WMD's? Everyone knew it was BS, so Wilson's role is irrelevant. The war was fought for other reasons than WMD's so this whole Plamegate is a bogus sideshow.
