A brave and powerful statement. Tomorrow the Republicans will smear him as a traitor.

desertswine: A brave and powerful statement. Very much so, yes... Now we need some "brave and powerful" listening, and actions.
Congress has lost its way if we don't hold this President accountable for his actions.

Oh. My. God. Incredible. This man has guts. He's going to get attacked so hard right now. And this speech alone tells me he has the strength and integrity to endure these attacks. I haven't seen anyone do anything this fearless in politics in a long time. He asked a lot of good questions yesterday. We all know none of them were answered well. Now he's just going on record. I wonder what Specter's going to say? How about Reid? phat

I just did some quick googling on this. Nothing, no negative attacks, no smears. It's like he's more than made of teflon, nothing is even being thrown at him, much less sticking. Twilight Zone almost. Interesting.

He comes from my home state, which by the way, also gives us Jim Senselessbrenner. Funny.

Che, it's been said that roses grow best where there is lots of manure around... ;-)

Perhaps attacking Russ for his divorces is too obvious, or maybe since the Democrats have done their (apparent to me) best to keep him under lock and key while promoting others hasn't made him an obvious threat to the Republicans?

Seems funny though, noonan. I'm sure rove has contigency files on everyone, even the remotest of threats...

...the President openly acknowledged that he has ordered the government to spy on Americans, on American soil, without the warrants required by law.
Great speech. I'm guessing that Feingold isn't being attacked yet because he is not yet a household name, and attacks against him could do less to discredit him than to build his stature as a significant critic of the president.

Can you imagine what the WH rose garden looks like these days? Just add water and get back! What was the name of that old science fiction classic B movie with the giant flowers that ate anyone who went near it? "Little Shop of Horrors"? or "Whores"? Or something? ;-)

Edger, That was the updated version with Rick Moranis. Do you remember the original B&W version, with Jack Nicholson in a cameo as a dental patient? He was so in love with the drill that he kept begging the dentist to keep drilling something, anything! The other one I remember is "Work is a Four Letter Word", where all the players discovered huge mushrooms that they ate like ice cream cones and got ripped.

Yes I do... Wow, that goes back aways! I remember watching a horror movie series saturday nights when I was about 9 or 10, called Shock Theatre. Great stuff! The "B"-est of "B" movies.
