Two Air Marshals Arrested for Smuggling Cocaine

by Last Night in Little Rock

CNN just reported that two Air Marshals were arrested in Houston for smuggling cocaine on the flights they were protecting. They were delivering to a person who turned out to be a protected government witness.

The full story is not yet on CNN.com, but it has this short summary:

Two federal air marshals are facing drug charges after allegedly agreeing to smuggle cocaine from a man who turned out to be a cooperating witness for the government, the U.S. attorney's office in Houston announced Monday.

Shawn Ray Nguyen and Burlie Sholar were arrested Thursday after allegedly receiving 15 kilograms of cocaine and $15,000 cash delivered to Nguyen's home and agreeing to take the drugs on a plane, prosecutors said in court papers.

The U.S. attorney's office accused the two men of agreeing to use their official positions as federal air marshals to bypass airport security and smuggle the 15 kilograms of cocaine on board a Houston-to-Las Vegas flight in exchange for the money. The two men will make an initial appearance in federal court Monday afternoon.

    ...power corrupts.

Good thing W is a Republican. Otherwise, we'd be hearing how this was proof, by gosh, that the President is involved in drug-running.

Prohibition corrupts. They killed people over beer in Chicago on a Monday... They legalized it on a Tuesday... It never happened again...and the mob had a pretty tough couple two three decades

Clearly, by Tom Tancredo's logic, the Department of Homeland Security, which employs air mashalls must be at war with the United States. Therefore, we must deploy the Department of Defense to obliterate the Department of Homeland Security. Mexico has rogue border soldiers. We have rogue air marshalls. Neither country wants to make war.

A couple of corrupt cops and the temptation created by foolish prohibition laws and there is only one conclusion: It is all George W. Bush's fault! Damn him....
