New Abu Ghraib Photos Released

President Bush says the United States does not engage in torture.

Now look at these new pictures, among 60 previously unpublished photographs that the US Government has been fighting to keep secret in a court case with the American Civil Liberties Union. Here's a sampling:

President Bush is a liar.

[hat tip Patriot Daily.]

Update: Amnesty International has a new flash video that demonstrates how we are all connected to acts of torture being carried out by agents of the U.S. gov't. Go over and watch them connect the dots.

This administration is really learning disabled. It's either that or else they just don't give a damn or both. There's just no other explanation. As for PR, they have to be the dumbest people in the world.

The war was a mistake. Every big mistake begets thousands of little mistakes. Sorry. Not even in the same universe as rationalization. What you don't understand, my friend, is that capital crimes have been committed by Bush and Cheney against Iraq AND the United States. The Iraqi culture has been fragmented and driven to civil war by a total lack of security that should have been provided by the "liberators" from the moment "major combat operations in Iraq have ended". As a result of this chaos, Al Qaeda has relocated to Iraq, with thousands of newly converted moderate muslims as shock troops for our entrenched reservists and green recruits. Death squads in the mold of John Negroponte's Salvadoran experimient in civil control now roam freely in the entire country, except for the Green Zone and heavily fortified bases. Bush and Cheney have no intention of ever giving up military control of what they have taken. Back home we watch as our hard earned tax dollars are tossed down the chute labeled "Troop support"(where's your patriotism boy?) and Iraq reconstruction (the promise of "democracy" - see beating video), which then funnels said billions of dollars directly into the private bank accounts of pseudo contractors who live in safe countries like Romania but live a multi million dollar lifestyle profiting off of our "reconstruction funds" while women and children, boys and men, die for THEIR COMFORT and in OUR NAMES. This "liberation" was fraudulently sold like A miracle tonic to the american public by a sham media that couldn't spread their legs wide enough or shake their pom poms fast enough to get a shotgun seat in a humvee headed for Gunner Palace. But the same old news is not news so hunting accidents take the top spot. Never mind that four more were killed yesterday, eight more today. It's so page 3 anymore. So we're now back to the tax-cut-for-the-rich-and-cut-social-programs-to-pay-for-the-war meme. We all have to tighten our belts. Except, of course for the top 1% of the population, who reap 50% of the tax cuts on money they don't even really earn, and worry not about such mundane issues as college loans, rising poverty rates, health care, or, in the case of the people of the gulf coast that were abandoned, just finding shelter. These are treasonous criminal acts against two countries.

Every picture tells a story don't it... And the story is the PNAC grand plan. Which will be coming soon to a detention center near you given the level of complacency and outright collaboration in this land of used-to-be freedoms.

You have just destroyed any hope you might harbor that any decent human being who knows how you think will ever pay attention to any opinion you ever post here. You need treatment, and I hope you can find someone with the compassion to listen to you without throwing up.

Most of the prisoners in Abu Ghraib were not military combatants at all, but ordinary civilians picked off the streets during indiscriminate raids. Before the pictures of abuse at Abu Ghraib emerged, the chain of command ignored or denied reports submitted by the Red Cross, Human Rights Watch and even military intelligence personnel working at Abu Ghraib. What happened at Abu Ghraib is a stain against the honor of our country. There is a clear connection between the abuse at Abu Grhaib (and other places) and decisions made at the White House to circumvent legal restrictions against prisoner abuse.

According to what has been previously reported by Seymour Hersh and others, these are, sadly, not the worst of the unreleased photos. Could this batch be a way of preventing the rest of them from coming to light? Those who want to change U.S. policies on torture might be interested in a new campaign initiated by religious leaders. If I had to go to jail right now I'd rather be in Abuh Grahib then the California prison system. Several people have died this week and all TL has the time to do is bring up phots "again" for an issue. What is the point? We already know what happened. It was wrong and everybody agrees. How bout I show some photos of 9/11 all over again to get the righties all in a fluff? Don't you guys complain bitterly when the right drags out 9/11 images to make a point. How is this different? Answer: It's not.

The U.S. has killed far more than one prisoner in the course of interrogation during the Bush administration. The punishments have been pitiful, when there has been any investigation or punishment, but, at least parts of the U.S. government admits that they have happened as well.

Anyone sparring with BB should be banned from this site. You don't think that retarded people should be executed yet you continue to argue with someone that would fit the same group if he were convicted of a capital offense. Slado, I think it has more to do with Limbaugh et al's response. That it was fraternizing, or letting off steam. None of the pictures i saw seemed to be like an initiation and these confirm it. I am with you though, I would also like to see drastic changes to our prison system as well.

Oh my god....men in handcuffs back to back & naked! Oh the humanity! How cruel we are!!!
BB, this post just illustrates your total ignorance of what we're up against. The Muslim culture is so far removed from our own that we can't begin to understand it. Men naked and forced to stand back to back? Sure, you might get pissed off at such treatment, but for these guys, it's a total sin, and they're dishonored permanently. Naturally, there are professors of eastern culture on call for the Pentagon and CIA...they can tell those bozos how to break anyone from any culture. What works on us probably wouldn't work on them. Torture a woman in front of them? Oh, okay, but they just don't want to LOOK at her. A sin. listen? that's another kettle of fish.

The govt. has tried to prevent 9/11 images from being shown as well. Rampant censorship and secrecy in America...very sad. We deserve all the info available, for the inhumane 9/11 attack and the inhumane torture that followed. We are their bosses after all. They derive their power from us and no place else.

Caramel, It's our own fault for allowing it in our prisons. It's an all out atrocity when we do it to citizens of other nations. Have you ever heard of the concept of multi tasking? Besides, if we use a fraction of the money we p****d away in Iraq, and the money we p**s away in the "war on drugs", and maybe stop criminalizing consensual adult sex, we might have a prison system that is manageable.

MizLiz, Abu Ghraib is not that hard to understand. If the prisoners in the pictures were American POWs and a foreign government was doing to them what our guards did to the Iraqis, how do you think most Americans, including most apologists for Bush, would react? Not only does prisoner abuse discredit and dishonor the USA, but it also radicalizes Arabs and Muslims and this results in more acts of violence against and deaths of American soldiers. Some of you may not care about the abuse and torture of brown skinned foreigners but I would have thought you cared a little about the American soldiers who are paying the price for your war.
