CBS Camera Crew Killed in Iraq

What awful news. A CBS cameraman, Paul Douglas and sound tech, James Brolan, both based in London, were killed by a roadside bomb in an attack on their convoy in Iraq. CBS reporter Kimberly Dozier is in critical condition.

The CBS team -- which was embedded with the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division -- was reporting from outside their Humvee and they were believed to have been wearing protective gear when the blast went off, according to CBS.

More than 50 people in all were killed today in Iraq.

As Ruby Thewes said: They make the weather and then they say "Sh*t! Its rainin!" Obviously a terrible tragedy within a larger terrible tragedy. Godspeed Kimberly.

it is, sadly, an occupational hazard, both for those who prosecute wars, and those who record them. hopefully, ms. dozier will fully recover from her wounds. i doubt she'll ever be the same psychologically. it doesn't seem that all that body armor is doing a whole lot to keep people from getting killed and maimed by those "ied's". not too shabby for a bunch of amateurs, unfortunately.

That's one less crew that will be reporting on "all the good news" going on in Iraq.

I hope Laura Ingram is happy now that the reporters are apparently leaving their hotels to try to cover what she tells them to.

I guess it's Goodbye Ruby Thewes - day ... sorry, I couldn't resist;-) Back OT: the VOA's Baghdad bureau has been closed for 6 months. Yep, nothing but good news out of iraq that the media is ignoring. BTW, we just increased troop levels. yep, turned another corner.
