Mel Gibson Charged With Two Misdemanors

Los Angeles prosecutors today filed two misdemeanor charges against Mel Gibson, one for DUI and one for having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle.

Interesting: The police reports said Gibson was "clocked" going 85 miles an hour in a 45 mile per hour zone. Yet he's not charged with speeding, which would have required a jail sentence if convicted.

Under state law, a driver under the influence whose speed exceeds the posted limit by 20 mph or more on streets or 30 mph on faces a minimum of 60 days in jail if convicted.

Nor was he charged with resisting police or arrest.

In his report, Deputy James Mee said Gibson "attempted to escape custody" and repeatedly threatened him.

Gibson must really be a jerk that's why someone finked on him. Can't say that I blame them.

geez TL, why would you be surprised? money talks, everyone else pays retail. however, the damage to mr.gibson's reputation in incalculable. i estimate it will result in losses of gross revenues in the millions. that is far more painful than a 60 day jail sentence.

Funny how they never seem to overlook such potential charges when it's one of my clients . . . but I don't represent any movie stars . . .

85 in a 45 while impaired and no reckless driving charge? A guy with nine kids needs a very strenuous reminder of what could've happened if he had walloped a stationwagon full of kids and that the roadways and all other people aren't out there just waiting to schmooze you.

Fortunately for most of us at times, that's not a crime.

According to the LA Times he's given almost $20 million to charities that provide medical treatment for children around the world. A complicated dumba$$ perhaps...

Can't really argue with that Sailor. Hopefully, this event will encourage him to become a rich ex-dumba$$.

Well the guy's got issues, call it a mid-life crisis, he needs to be seen and heard now that he thinks that his flame is dying out.
