Barbara Boxer at Daily Kos

Senator Barbara Boxer has a diary at Daily Kos and writes about her appreciation to the blogoshphere for supporting her position on Condi Rice. Here's a bit:

I can't thank all of you enough -- the Daily Kos community, and the blogosphere as a whole -- for all of your effective work during the recent debate over Condoleezza Rice's nomination. Your support and participation in this critical debate meant so much to me.

.... You helped to get our message out to millions of Americans -- I couldn't have done it without you. And you made a difference. You gave me the voice I needed to ask the tough questions during Dr. Rice's confirmation hearings. And you gave the entire United States Senate the voice it needed to take its "advice and consent" responsibility seriously. In fact, Condoleezza Rice received 13 votes against her confirmation -- the most votes against any Secretary of State's nomination since 1825.

Oh how the mighty Dems have fallen. Plastered into submission by the Republicans, the Dems now must find satisfaction in voting unsuccessfully against Bush nominees. I gotta tell you that it doesn't get any better than this!!!

I'm so proud of Barbara, who lives five miles from where I do. It's the first time anyone has had the guts to call Rice a liar, and back it up with evidence! The outpouring of support for Boxer is almost like that for a rock star, because people are really tired of cowardly politicians who don't stand up for what is right in the face of overwhelming odds and the vicious slurs (see above) that are the only weapon of the loony right. Over 500 Kos posters thanked her, and a huge number volunteered to do research, fact checking, letter writing, and army of smart, motivated people. Her fighting talk and the use of those pesky old FACTS, contrasted with the complete lack of balls of the rest of the party, will make her a star. You have not heard the last of her, and her base is super motivated. This is just the beginning of the "Boxer Rebellion." We don't need to be paid to support her, like those who need bribes to support the Bush policies.

Yay, Boxer! My mother, who's met her, obsesses a bit about her hairstyle, which bothers me not at all. To paraphrase Lincoln's comment about Grant: we should find out what she's drinking and send a barrel of it to the rest of the senators.

To paraphrase Lincoln's comment about Grant: we should find out what she's drinking and send a barrel of it to the rest of the senators. I called Feinstein's office and told them exactly that! "Whatever Barbara Boxer is drinking, order a case for Dianne!"

Boxer? I guess she a slight step up from Kennedy, Dean, Kerry and Moore. Not much of a step though. BTW if Condi is a liar, so is Kerry, both Clintons, Kennedy, Albright, Daschle, Levin, Pelosi, Graham, Gore, Byrd, Rockefeller and Waxman. All of these Democrats have given speeches or written letters calling Saddam and his WMDs a threat the America and the World. But we won't let FACTs get in the way of your ideology, will we? I actually find it sad that the Democrats only have the likes of Boxer, Kennedy, Dean, Kerry and Moore as spokespersons.

Barbara Boxer didn't vote Bush's way when it came to counting Ohio's electoral votes, either. It takes a lot of guts to come forward when the Bush machine and mainstream press stand ready to marginalize, turn into a nut case, attack, de-feminize, and pull any other dirty tricks they can to bring her down. I predict that if they are not able to render her insignificant in the eyes of the public, they will manufacture some scandal to harm her image. In any case, she deserves our thanks and support for asking the hard questions and objecting to the more appalling practices of this administration.

Pride is a fickle thing for you libs. You hate your country, but a proud of Boxer? I love my country, but I really can't say I am proud of any politician. You people are even more screwed up than I could ever imagine. Attempting to figure out what makes you guys tick, is really kind of fun in a sick and sad sort of way!

Kdog, I thought that too, at first. Then I'm seeing all of the reaction on both sides. There's rightous indignation on one side and a rallying cry on the other. I think maybe there's a line being drawn here that could define some events of tne next four years. Guy, You type well considering you're only using your non-dominant hand.

Greg Z. I grew up and became enlightened. You and your fellows are the ones still wallowing in your ignorance. Leave you alone to write your lies and falsehoods. Oh, I am sorry I forgot the liberal rule that free speech is only for liberals. Plug my Blog? This is the last place I would want to plug my blog. I put it there because I had a blog, not to promote it. More conspiracy theories?

Don't bother Steve A., that's the phony patriot's way of framing the argument. He has no facts. It's easier to just call somebody a wacko leftist lying conspiracy theorist.

I hope you're right Che, but the dopey Dems have let me down so many times, I have my doubts they will keep the heat on this disaster of an administration. And where were the other 40 some odd Dem senators. Each one should have done their job and called Condi a liar. They didn't.
