Rudolph to Plead Guilty; Avoids Death Penalty

CNN reports that Eric Rudolph will plead guilty to all charges alleging his involvement in bombings (including the 1996 Olympics bombing and a 1998 clinic bombing in Atlanta) in exchange for a life sentence. As TalkLeft reported here, Rudolph's jury selection began this week.

    Osama bin Laden took lessons on hiding from Eric Rudolph. Now Rudolph is getting what he deserves--life in prison and not another day as a free man. Now if only they could catch Osama bin Laden...

    ...Richard Jewel and Tom Brokaw could not be reached for comment. I watched NBC News this evening and neither of the above were mentioned. Gee I wonder why?

    How does he get the chance to negotiate a plea? Shouldn't all right wing nuts suffer the full weight of right wing imposed law? Isn't that a big chunk of what those lying worthless bastards are about?

    A theocon nut job who kills in the name of the pro-life movement? Who would have thunk it would be the exact kind of terrorist / murderer that the Bush administration would coddle as not deserving of death. With that said, I would oppose death even for him. - k

    My best friend, Emily Lyons, bomb survivor from Birmingham, Alabama 1998 rudolph didn't offer her a deal...

    The death penalty for this fellow is fine by me but it seems strange that some strident anti-death penalty folks on this site felt bad because he won't be put to death. Explain the irony if you will.
