Anti-Rape 'Rat Trap'

In the "you can't make this stuff up" department....A battle is brewing in South Africa over an anti-rape device planned to be sold along side of tampons in supermarkets. It was designed by a woman.

The tampon-like device, invented by a woman, supposedly protects women from rapists by cutting into a man’s p*nis.

Feministing has more.

Isn't there a Freudian term for this sort of thing? There was something like this in Snow Crash, but it was loaded w/ tranquilizers.

If Americans think they have a crime problem, consider this 'rat trap' as being the tip of the iceberg; in South Africa, you can buy a unique anti-carjacking device...a flamethrower. And no, I am not joking: BBC World: Firing on all cylinders

I see (at least) one potential problem with anything designed to most likely draw blood from the penis after penetration. Anybody care to guess what it is? It's a pretty big one.

Women can do whatever women want to defend themselves against rapists...but wouldn't it be simpler to carry a gun?

The Freudian term is vagina dentata.

As a counter-measure, I have applied for a patent for my still secret exploding penis. That's all I can say for now.
