Late Night Music: Americana

To end the 4th of July, here's a piece of history and a blending of American and Brit with a little Canadian thrown in. Playing "My Back Pages" together.... Bob Dylan, Roger McGuinn, George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Neil Young and Tom Petty, at Bob Dylan's 30th Anniversary concert at Madison Square Garden. Watch as they each take the lead in their own inimitable styles.

"I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now."

Wow, thanks! The tune is "My Back Pages", written by Dylan and popularized by McGuinn, the first singer in the video when he was with The Byrds in the 60's. Aside: the first time I heard Petty sing, I thought it was McGuinn. Check out Roger's "Back From Rio" album, if you've never heard it. Excellent.

I only have dialup so I won't try to watch, but if memory serves they are singing "My Back Pages", right? I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now Better than the line about the pump handles, if TL ever wants to change the site's motto. When George takes the verse, it will melt your heart. Related: Here's George and Paul Simon on SNL circa 1976, doing "Homeward Bound" and "Here Comes The Sun". Again, you'll be more verklempt than Linda Richman.

Coincidentally, I ended my Indie Day with one from Central Park with another pair of oldies.

Nice video, I love 60's music (I played in a band back then), Byrds, Dylan especially.
