Late Nite: Heat Wave

There's no relief yet from the heat wave gripping the country. At least Denver has little humidity which makes it slightly more bearable. Except I'll be in court in Omaha tomorrow where I'm not likely to be so lucky.

For all who are suffering, here's a little musical relief -- a double header-- Martha and the Vandellas singing "Heat Wave" and The Lovin' Spoonful doing "Summer in the City."

We've got roads buckling from the heat here in NY...some quick power outages too but not too bad. Thank the sun god the beach is only 10 minutes away from my crib...nice and cool there in the evenings.

I did a blog on natural disaster songs on April 7, 2006, if you go to "Archives" and scroll down. Martha and the Vandellas continued relating love to bad nature with "Quicksand," a song that had some success, and then "Earthquake," which was so ignored by the public that they abandoned this line of song.

Two songs that have always been my young son's bedtime listening: "Summer in the City" and "Yellow Submarine". Thanks for the vids.
