The prosecutor is not the typical vindictive white male stereotype as depicted in some of the comments. She's an upstanding woman prosecutor who has worked extensively with at risk and troubled youth. Cheers, VJ
Knowing the prosecutor in this case, and a bit more of the details, Ithink it's a lot more complex than the supporters of Dixon claim. This is not about racism, this is about hard assed southern justice and non consensual & statutory rape. It's not pretty, and we all wish Mr. Dixon could have pled out somehow. Sex in a classroom during instructional time is unusual to say the least. This is not a civil rights case, this is a criminal balance case. Given the facts on hand, he might have gotten a lighter sentence, but not from this circuit. So I support the victim, the law and the facts here against the hype cant and propaganda.
We are wasting valuable resources trying to bolster a rightly covicted criminal. We can argue if he may have gotten a lighter sentence in another juristiction, but he was not there. His family has not been subject to invective and attacks, hers has. It's disgusting and unbecoming of all these old venerable civil rights hands. They're selling their names and honor all too cheaply. Mr. Dixon did the crime, now he'll do the time. Just because your a smart, good looking black man with a football scholarship and a once promising future does not mean you are immune to being stupid and capable of committing a violent
criminal act. These petitions would be funny if they were not so tragic & disgraceful. Even IF it was a simple 'he said she said', it happened the way it happened because he preyed upon her, not the other way around. I say he's out early, possibly in under 3-4 anyway, and with the warped mindset he'll get from all his misguided 'supporters' the world over, more likely to re-offend. The GA Supremes will reject it too. And yes, I know Justice Robert Benham also.
