Thanksgiving Blogging of Years Past

Last Thanksgiving, I had a cast on my wrist and reduced my blogging for the weekend. Little did I know then it would get progressively worse until March when I finally had sugery on it. Jay Allen, who is the creator of MT-Blacklist that despams our comments, once had the same thing, called DeQuervain's Tensonsynovitis and began a thread at his blog about it that is still in use today. It was a great place to go and find others with the same problems. Some were musicians, some were engineers, everyone needed their wrists to work.

Thankgiving, 2002, we gave thanks to other bloggers who had helped put us on the blogging map. What's great about re-reading it is the realization that all of them are still blogging.

Instapundit blogs on Turkey Day:

TURKEYBLOGGING: Blogging will be limited today; as usual, we're having both families over, and I'm cooking two (!) legs of lamb as well as a small turkey for the traditionalists. On the other hand, the computer's always on, so I'll......

Skippy posted twice last thanksgiving. The first said:

happy thanksgiving! what else is there to say? enjoy your friends and family this holiday!

The second was about me and my wrist troubles:

blogger on tv sighting! was that the lovely jeralyn merritt of talkleft we saw today on msnbc discussing kobe bryant? none other! we hope her wrist heals soon!

Skippy is, without a doubt, the most gentlemanly blogger out there.

We'll find some more past t-day posts tomorrow and put them up. I'm not cooking tomorrow so the time of dinner is not up to me. It's at 5:30 pm (I'm used to 3 to 4pm dinners)so I'll be around a bit here during the day.

I'm thinking of switching to a Blackberry from my palm pilot so I can blog from wherever and not have to be by a computer. Another nice thing about blackberry emails...they are always short since no one can work on that tiny keyboard for extended periods of time.

To those of you who are cooking tommorrow, turn on some good music. See if one of your local radio stations is going to play the 25 minute version of Arlo Guthrie singing "Alice's Restaurant" about his trip down to White Hall St. to sit on the bench and wait until he was told if he was fit for induction. If you're too young to remember it, listen hard...while it's funny, it could happen to you. I still cook from Alice's recipes several times a year...the book is out of print and it's one of those I'll never part with.

One last note: Martha Stewart and Lea Fastow are spending their first thanksgivings in jail. They'll be there for Christmas too. If you could send them a card, that would be nice.
