Rocket Hits U.S. Embassy

A rocket hit the grounds of the U.S. embassy, killing two Americans and wounding four more.

Insurgents hit the U.S. embassy with an audacious rocket strike on Saturday that killed two Americans and wounded four, and also killed 17 Iraqis and an American soldier on the eve of Iraq's landmark election....It hit near the embassy building," embassy spokesman Bob Callahan said. "There are two dead and four who are wounded ... all Americans."

The term "U.S. embassy" is somewhat misleading. It is part of the occupation regime.
Whichever plan ultimately prevails, Negroponte will unquestionably play a pivotal role in the elaboration and execution of US policy in Iraq. He brings to his job no direct experience in the Middle East, and, while he reportedly speaks five languages, they do not include Arabic. The experience he does have, however, prepares him for directing the suppression of the growing Iraqi resistance to US occupation. He has an intimate familiarity with mass killing, covert operations and death squads. Negroponte’s “experience and skill” lie not in spreading “freedom and peace,” as Bush piously declared, but rather in organizing bloody repression—from Vietnam to Central America and elsewhere. They got the rocket from Don & Dick's Terrorism Wallmart™. The 4,000 shoulder-fired missiles the White House admits have been transfered to hostiles were apparently of good enough quality, and the price (FREE) can't be beat. 650,000 pounds of unguarded ("Not enough troops? We can do it on the cheap!!" --Donald, to Pentagon) ammunition, and Bremer's bizarre decision to let the disbanded Army return home with their AK-47s, is starting to heat up sales at Don & Dick's Emporium of Hatred. The motto is: We Hate You, So Who Do You Hate? And it's a killer. To prove it, they donated 280 tons of high-explosives to the hostiles, as well as LEFT THE WAREHOUSE DOORS Open for midnight shopping at all nine of Iraq's nuclear repositories!! You can't get more traitorous than that!! Why, Dick coughs up a balled-up Constitution if he even HEARS the word 'peace.' So humble, Auschwitz Dick even calls himself Staff, but don't expect him to bag your weapons for free. Can Don & Dick sell enough weapons, destroy enough lives, kill enough martyr Americans, and peddle enough FEAR to beat out the local competitors, the Mom & Pop rightwing death squads of the region? It's Hell for Sale, down at Don & Dick's No-Democracy-too-good-to-wreck, house burning down prices. "The Republicans treat the earth like a business in liquidation." -- RFK Jr. Free bomb with every "vote." Come on down!!

how does one fire a rocket when the city is under martial law? is this missle small enought to hide? (this is not meant to be rhetorical but I am curious)

I would have to assume that the effective imposition of martial law requires a greater level of effective force commitment than the people declaring martial law actually posess.
