I'll never understand why anyone who acknowledges and holds disregard for News Corp's bias would agree to give them undeserved credibility in return for money. If all newsmakers / "opinion makers" who held beliefs leftward of Orrin Hatch would begin refusing to associate with them in any manner, it would force their one-sidedness further towards the light of day in even the smallest American minds. It would push them into the realm of biased entertainment (i.e. Rush Limbaugh, The 700 Club, Old Time Gospel Hour, etc.) and farther from any semblance of honest journalism. News Corp's bias is simple marketing: They identified a market hungry for a product (Conservatives, Conservatively biased news) and met it. Destroy the demand for the product, destroy the product. Adding value to the product only makes it that much more successful.

Value in this case equals adding a minimum of Liberal/Progressive/Left viewpoints and then tearing it down without honest contemplation/presentation. Also, Fox News isn't the only cultural engineering effort undertaken by News Corp. Their entertainment programming from movies, to entertainment television, to sports is fraught with examples of both blatant and carefully veiled conservative values.

Cliff, Looks like you wouldda won the bet (that Howard Dean would embarrass the Dems w/in his first month) in a cakewalk:
In a meeting with members of the party's African-American caucus, Dr. Dean looked around the room and asked whether anyone thought the Republican National Committee could get so many minorities together in one place. - "Only if they had the hotel staff in there," Dr. Dean said, answering his own question.
We can see what Howard expects of minorities. Isn't that called stereotyping?

Anyone who knows "Faux News" knows they are very selective when it comes to their "Commentators". They are a disciplined propaganda machine for the right. So what does this tell us about their selection of "Frost"? If he truly is an effective spokesperson for the left,he won't last, otherwise....

I guess Fox likes the kind of Democrat who never says he's a Democrat in his campaign literature, ads or websites. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/1/17/121759/358

Gerry: Fox doesn't have any news "scandals" because when they F up, no one's surprised and they're not ashamed. Here's just one recent example: http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/fnc/media_matters_beats_distortion_drum_2019.asp

I stated on my blog that I was happy to hear that Frost took the job. I'm no fan of FOX News, but like it or not, a lot of people get their news from it, so articulate, mainstream Democrats ought to be willing to go there. Frost isn't the most eloquent speaker, but in a debate format he's very good at keeping to his talking points and finding his opponent's weakness in order to exploit it. If you watched the debates with him and Pete Sessions last year, you'd know what I'm talking about - Frost got his opponent to say one of the stupidest comments "terrorism is like a game..." in the 2004 cycle, and pounced on it immidiately. It'll be nice to have a decent Democrat on FOX News for once as opposed to DINO Zell Miller and Silent Alan Colmbes.

"Only if they had the hotel staff in there," Dr. Dean said, answering his own question." ...Isn't that called stereotyping?
i guess its interpretation. i read the statement as: reps are not inclusive of minorities, i.e., hotel staff workers, would include a sizeable amount of minorities, probably a fact. stereotype A conventional, formulaic, and oversimplified conception, opinion, or image. if you make a statement seeded in fact, that would eliminate the necessary component of "oversimplified conception, opinion, or image". now if want hyperbole, interpret his statement to suggest that minorities would be serving (subservient, inferior to) the republicans, that might get a little more rise. yawn!!!!!

Tampa Student nails it on the head with: "If all newsmakers / "opinion makers" who held beliefs leftward of Orrin Hatch would begin refusing to associate with them in any manner, it would force their one-sidedness further towards the light of day in even the smallest American minds" I hope Dean does everything he can to convince Dems to stay away from FOX. Why they would go on HANNITY and colmes or "The Factor" or interview with Gibson, etc., is beyond me. They only get attacked and/or shouted down, their messages don't come out, and the vast majority of people who watch the network are predisposed to despise them anyway. Why validate their endeavors? Based on this alone I'm extra thankful Frost didn't get the Chair.

"...but like it or not, a lot of people get their news from it..." Yes, I know. Like people who are forced to watch it in line at the Bank, when eating lunch at a Corporate restaurant, when entering a grocery store, when shopping at a Best Buy or Circuit City, checking into/out of a hotel, having a drink at a Corporate-owned bar, etc, etc. The sad fact is, the Corporations do not have to tell their people to turn it on in these venues. There is a Conservative ideologue or brainwashed lay conservative who actually believes that what they're displaying is truly unbiased information/entertainment. If you'd ask these idiots to turn off a Sean Hannity or Bill O'Reilly in favor of a re-broadcast of an old Rush Limbaugh re-run on a different network, your average bartender/store manager would probably say, "of course I'm not going to do that, its not appropriate to have that on in here." I really should have to make a scene just to avoid being offended while I eat / check my account balance, etc. What a great culture we're fostering today.
