Grisham to Write True Story of Innocent Man Condemned to Death

by TChris

John Grisham, famed for novels about lawyers, may prove that truth can be more compelling than fiction when he tackles his first work of nonfiction: the account of an innocent man sent to death row.

Ron Williamson, who died of liver disease in December at age 51, at one point came within five days of being executed for the 1982 murder of a 21-year-old woman. He was freed in April 1999.

Grisham bought the rights to the story from Williamson's sisters.

If the story has a hero, says Grisham, it will probably be the lawyers who saved Williamson from imminent death. Grisham hopes to finish the book in about ten months.

Finally he uses his Powers for Good.

Now that is going! to be one big book, can he also do something on how many people have been shot to death by our police in the good old USA? And how many were innocent?

I wonder if Mr. Williamson's liver disease was related in any way to the hepatitis C that is running rampant in our prisons.

finally, grisham attempts to be a real writer, instead of the genre hack he's made millions from being. he should really write the story that's been destroying him for years, about the client he didn't defend well enough, who wasn't anyone who should've been sent to prison, and who was assaulted and killed behind bars. he's always talked about it being so life-changing. but all he writes about, until now it seems, are plot belly pigs -- sic intended.
