Michael Jackson: Comedian to Describe Relationship With Accuser and Family

Trial Update
Tuesday March 22

Louise Palanker, a comedian who gave large amounts of money to the accuser and his family a few years ago, took the stand late Monday and resumes her testimony today. I don't see how she helps the prosecution. The police reports of her interviews make the entire family out to be the grifters from Hell. You can read the reports here (scroll down to page 9 and then keep reading.)

i doubt it will hurt them enough either, since this case isn't about the kid's family any more than it's about michael jackson's fame. it's about whether this kid was molested by michael jackson. or it's supposed to be, right. no matter how odd or grifter-like the parents of this child are, he is a child and under their thumb -- the jury will feel a certain sympathy for him for simply BEING their child, unless he's such a wretched kid they hate him (not likely). whether it's enough sympathy, we'll see. it's not right technically, not legal, but it's the human result of this circus. jackson is one of the most, if not THE most, bizarre mega-celebrities in the history of the globalized world. and he has a bizarre history with children, his own included, and that's not going to help. in some cases a jury looks for a reason to aquit. this jury, i think, will be looking for a reaspm to convict. again, not legal or just in our system, but the reality of relying on faulty humans for rendering justice. this is just my cynical take. i'm sure i sound like an armchair cynic, too. even better. but how can this case possibly result in anything resembling fairness. for either side. it's just reality series now.

Testimony today from comedienne Palanker: Palanker said she remains in contact with the mother and the boy and considers them friends. From her interview in January: She conceded she told police that the mother was "totally bipolar" and "very excitable," and also said that "this family can be as wacky as they want to be." But Palanker said she was probably exaggerating and engaging in "hyperbole" that is her stock and trade as a comedian.
