Friday Construction Blogging

There's cat-blogging (see here, here and here), basset blogging, orchid blogging and all sorts of off-topic blogging in the blogosphere on Fridays. Yesterday, a local bank decided to build its new building outside one of my windows. Since I've never watched a building be constructed at such close range, and because I'm trying not to think about how loud or dirty my airspace will become in the next several months, I'm going to focus on the positive. Somewhere, some construction company is taking pride in this four story project.

I will catalog the progress in photos each Friday so you too can watch a building be constructed at close range.

Here's day one, Wednesday, the day the tractor arrived. At 7 am.

At least I still have unobstructed views on two other sides:

The trades are such a rewarding job. The work I do know, you never see anything tangible accomplished, just numbers on a page. In the trades, you get to truly appreciate the fruits of your labor, something where there once was nothing. Learn a trade and you'll never go hungry.

Where's the pile driver? You don't know anything about construction noise.

Damn right about plumbers cp...if ever there is an apocolypse, plumbers would rule the world. All your other problems become secondary when you have no running water and you can't flush the toilet.

Oh s**t it's going to be noisy in your office for the next year. Hope you have a good conference room to meet with clients. And how tall is this millionth monument to capitalism going to be? Will your window view then be into another office? Please be sure to send them my address so they can send me a few hundred introductory 0%APR offers every month.

It's being built outside my home, not my office. My office is one of the buildings in this picture. The bank will be four stories, so it shouldn't block the view when completed.
