Guantanamo Goes Green

Noah at Defense Tech reports on a new energy-saving program in use at Guantanamo Bay:

Happy belated Earth Day, enemy combatants! You may be staying here at Guantanamo Bay indefinitely. And lawyers might be a bit tricky to come by. But at least we won't be burning up a whole lot of oil to keep the lights on when we force you to stay awake! Nope, now we've got four brand-spanking-new, 275-foot tall wind turbines supplying the power around here, Defense Industry Daily says.

So if the wind is calm for a few days that means the electrodes to the genitals won't be as painful?

Guantanamo aside, Barry Commoner suggested years ago that one way for America to go green would be to work it through the Pentagon. Such is life in a society dominated by the "military-industrial-congressional complex" (Eisenhower's original formulation).

Screw the turbines, why don't we just use the detainees as human batteries a la "The Matrix".

Er, kdog, they would have to be human first. Currently, and I do mean wind power, they are cardboard cutouts called 'enemies.' That's until they are wrung-out and have been proven innocent by the old witch test. At which point they become cardboard cutouts called 'embarrassments.' That's until the 'wind' power driving the Murdoch Media ignites in a fiery ball that melts Hannity to his plastic chair.

This is old news I've have seen these while coming in for landings and on takeoffs at Gitmo for at least eight months. Easy to pick out from the surrounding hills.

"Easy to pick out from the surrounding hills. " Not so easy to pick out from the machines who do their master's will, regardless of innocence, human rights, conscience, or honor. A lot of prison guards going to hell by the shortest route.
