Bright Eyes on Leno Show

Crooks and Liars has the link to the video of the "Bright Eyes" performance on the Tonight Show last night. "Bright Eyes" sang a song, "When the President talks to God." It's more than a little surprising NBC allowed it to air. Check out the lyrics at Daily Kos.

quite the amazing song. Hard to believe it was broadcast on network television. I give it a 7 as the song is bouncy and you can dance to it...seriously, it is nice to have a real protest song see the light of day for the masses.

The only thing I remember is 'bull**it' was bleeped out. There's also a free download at his official site (Bright Eyes, that is) of the song. (Totally off & just an FYI...I noticed when I come into TL using Firefox, I have to sign in every stinking time. Not so on Netscape or IE.)

I use Netscape 7.1 and have to sign in separately for each comment also. Annoying feature. Can it be changed to once per session, at least?

I use firefox and IE and usually stay logged in. But here's a tip from Mike Ditto: In the Firefox preferences under Privacy, make sure that it is set to accept cookies and to keep them until they expire. You can also add talkleft.com and typekey.com to the cookie exception list, setting them to "always allow". The login cookie will still expire after 20 minutes of inactivity, that's just how Typekey works. But the username and password will always be put in automatically if you have Firefox set to remember passwords.

How did that happen? Bright Eyes was playing a Martin OO guitar; a killer guitar. Don't know which number. It was a pleasant surprise to hear a song like that. I guess the President has it coming. The President wasn't very sympathetic towards Carla Faye Tucker. Ergo, I can't generate a lot of sympathy for George Bush if somebody wants to criticize his actions. Actions speak louder than words. Hats off to Bright Eyes. A bronx cheer for George Bush.

I wish I had a way with words like that. Wow.

The lyrics were hard-hitting, but forgive Blaghdaddy if he wasn't impressed by this "musical performance." O.K., Blaghdaddy dug the lyrics, as he said, but this was little more than the drug-fueled beatpoet stuff the world saw in the 80's and 90's. If he'd put it to actual music, he'd have gotten a "10." As Blaghdaddy saw it, it was a shoddy performance of a potentially great song, and gives the right another shot at the Looney Left free of charge...

Dope lyrics indeed. When the pres. talks to god, he talks to himself...no wonder they are always on the same page.
