Liberal Bloggers Align Against the Compromise

I'm so glad to see this. Armando at Daily Kos agrees the compromise to the nuclear option is not in our best interests if it allows Priscilla Owen and Janice Rogers Brown to be confirmed. Josh Marshall of Talking Points seems to agree. We need more of you to speak up.

My thoughts are here. The latest from CNN confirms that five of seven would be confirmed. I'm still hearing only Myers and Saad would be rejected.

Update: Thanks to Ian of Political Teen for putting up the video of Connected Coast to Coast's blog report yesterday on the compromise. TalkLeft got a nice mention.

Tristero breaks his blog silence to agree that the compromise should be rejected.

  • Unfortunately, this is the real world, and I would say we are lucky to have gotten a compromise out of this. They have a 55/45 majority, and 7 republicans, some quite conservative, who didn't want this madness to happen, and you guys are pissed?! Some of those 7 were willing to vote to change the rules, but they didn't, and you guys are pissed? Come back to the real world and realize that the Dems actually got a win here. That doesn't happen very often when the other guys are in control of every branch of government. That looks a lot better to the average dumbass in this country than "obstructing business," which would be a an easy portrait for the GOP to paint with the Dems virtually shutting down the Senate by bringing business to a snails pace. Not to mention having some say in at least one Supreme Court nomination. Hopefully they'll be smart enough to save their ammo for when one of the liberal judges retires.

At least we've clearly established that your concern is not for the principle of anything, but specifically to defeat nominees who would have majority support in the Senate. If people don't start talking about how to deal with this insane non government people in the end will start shooting and do you want that?

FWIW, I broke my blog silence and posted an agreement with you. No compromise is possible with the extremists who are prepared to eviscerate the US government in order to ensure that one party and one party only can appoint judges.

That doesn't look like a compromise. I am with you and posted that way in latest Nuke Notes at Armageddon on the Potomac. Why am I not surprised Lieberman is involved?

"[Ras, welcome back to TalkLeft, but remember, you are limited to four comments a day.]" Good one.

No compromise. Time to stand and deliver. All those cliches about courage and principle are in play. This is the place, now is the time.
