Nuclear Option: Get Your Fingers Limber

David at Daily Kos says "All Hands on Deck."

The battle to preserve the rights of minority political factions - and the public interests those factions represent - is about to be fully joined. Here are the simple steps you need to take to gear up for the fight to save the filibuster.

The timing is a bit uncertain still, but it will be fast and you have to move. Stay by a computer. Bookmark the links.

With the Nuclear Option’s timing in Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist’s hands, there won’t be enough warning to send out an email alert the moment he drops the bomb on the Senate. But we can deliver a text message straight to your mobile that embeds a Senate phone number based on your state.

Get mobilized on a statewide level at BlogPac. As David says,

When things really, finally go down, everyone needs to be able to contact as many people as fast as possible. We need people to hear our unfiltered message from friends and family and co-workers and neighbors before they hear the sterile and misleading he-said/she-said version on the news. So people need to pull together email addresses for everyone they know before it happens so that our message can immediately spread virally.

I sort of feel left out. I'm in NJ and my senators will do the right thing without my prompting.

No one needs to feel left out, aw. I live in New York, and my senators (Schumer & Clinton) are obviously in the forefront of this fight to save the filibuster. But I have still been signing petitions, making phone calls to them (they still want to know of their constituents' support for their positions), and e-mailing (non-spam) MoveOn.pac's messages. The "Swing State Project" is actually the creation of DavidNYC (Also click on "More" TL's main entry for such information about what those living in non-swing states can do to help!

If your senators are supporting the filibuster, call them and thank them and tell them you appreciate their courage.

I'm in California and they never do the "right" thing

Here's the direct link to the "Citizen Filibuster to Stop the Right-Wing Power Grab," searchable by zip code at MoveOnPac.org. It explains what one can do to help save the filibuster all day/night Tuesday.
