Karl Rove Assessment

Digby:

I am currently working on a project about Rove and have done a lot of research on how people perceive him as compared to his actual success. I agree with the assessment above. He is highly overrated as a strategist --- indeed Democrats have imputed to him almost magical powers to shape events in the most complicated ways. It's much simpler than that.

He is just someone who has no limits. And he has a client and a party that are willing to do as he advises. That is a powerful thing, but it is not genius. It is useful in elections, but it is a disaster in governance, as we are seeing. Brute force cannot accomplish every task, as any plumber or mechanic can tell you.

What you posted is exactly what Karl Rove wanted you to say. Resistance is futile.

Gee, wasn't W just bragging about the Patriot Act, and how it was stopping all of these terrorists? Until it was disclosed that he was lying?

Just curious here...let's grant for a moment that this assessment of Rove is correct (purely for the sake of argument, you understand). Then does it follow that since the skills that get someone elected are awful for governance, perhaps democracy is a lousy form of government? I mean, from what you're saying, the system favors the worst leaders. It's an argument that justifies your party's losses, but do you really want to draw the logical conclusion and undermine the foundations of the Republic?

The 'skill' of getting elected through massive electronic (and conventional) vote fraud is not applicable to 'governance.' Digby kids himself that 'Rove' is a person. It's a bank of CIA computers working day and night to discover every evil opportunity that the machines can think up. Plus ten-twenty thinktanks, made up of people paid to betray their country in service to their backpockets. Plus every major news broadcaster, up to their ears in filth. Plus the psyop boys at the Pentagon. Plus the ruthless advice (and help) of Mossad, and Bandar, and rightwing thugs around the world, like Berlusconi (who cooked up the Niger forgery). Oh, and MI6, etc. -- wow, thanks for the repayment, Britain. Etc. It's a lot of evil and evil people, this 'Karl Rove.' Did I mention the KKK?

how about someone whose only brilliance seems to be making people on the other side so mad at him they are unable to recognize and are completely blind to their own inadequacies and shortcomings. case in point-frothing because the guy quotes you.
