Proof That the Internet Has No Eraser

One of the reasons to be an anonymous blogger is if you think you might apply for a job someday where what you write could come back to haunt you. Before you blog your diatribe, you would do well to remember that the Internet has no eraser.

Case in point:

The Lexington Herald-Leader today contains an article that begins, "The young lawyer whom Kentucky Chief Justice Joseph Lambert yesterday named his chief of staff has strong opinions about Democrats, gay marriage and other hot-button topics, and until recently he enjoyed posting them on the Internet.

Jason Nemes, 27, a former Republican congressional aide, discontinued his personal blog -- with posts such as 'Democrats are anti-American' and 'Does a fetus feel pain?' -- before taking a job at the state Supreme Court."

The newspaper also offers a related item consisting of "Excerpts from the blog."

...don't I know it. I made the mistake of "googling" my own name once. Then, there was that time my gardener did the same thing to track me down. Boy, we had a swell conversation the next we met...

Ah, but there is something of an eraser to the internet, after all. Talkleft.com, for example, regularly erases comments based on teir ideology, and on ideological quotas. Other left-wing sites do the same. I visit various right-wing sites, too. They don't erase the way the Left, including this site, does. Perhaps they feel less threatened by competing ideas.

That's funny, I didn't realize that there were right-wing sites that even allowed comments. Can you direct me to some, I would love to visit them. Thanks!

Ras, The right sites (that allow comments at all) don't have the same troll problem that left sites do.

Blinders on much there ras? In my experience, as has been noted here and other blogs, many Right Wing Blogs are so confident of their positions they don't even allow comments. As for those that do like Lil Green Fascists and Freeperland, in my experience delete rapidly. You do recall the problem Freeperland had with people posting stuff about immigration a few months ago, don't you? Oh, wait, your RWNJ filter won't let you. Sorry. Darryl- exactly.

ras, only if a person uses really bad words, and gets so off the topic, that person is in outer space and yes the old eraser comes out. "oh yes", my new home is on mars, and i love it.

War, and war crimes, has no eraser either. This week I talked with a Mossad agent (wouldn't the FBI be charged with protecting an American citizen from foreign agents?); I have talked with several military intel agents, FBI agents, and cops of all sorts. Protesters naturally develop files. Martin Luther King Jr. had a file a mile thick; so did Miles Davis. It's good company. Which is to say, "NUTS." (you may need to review Patton to get the reference).

Why does the US government support nations that encourge gang rape as a form of punishment? Why does this adminastration get a free pass from the media... Who holds this tyrannt accountable?
