Jeanine Pirro Joined by Husband and Kids at Appearance

Smart move by Jeanine Pirro. She brought her husband Albert and her kids to a campaign appearance in White Plains today.

Jeanine Pirro's controversial husband made his first appearance of the Senate race Friday when he stood a few yards away from her podium on the last stop of her introductory state tour. Pirro, the Westchester district attorney who is seeking the Republican nomination to challenge Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, did not introduce her husband, Albert Pirro, or mention him in her speech.

He stood between their son, Alex, 16, and his mother-in-law, Esther Ferris, and applauded occasionally during her address, then avoided reporters afterward. Jeanine Pirro, asked why she did not introduce him, said, "He'll be on the supportive end for me and my family. This campaign concerns me, my record, what I've done, what I plan to do for ordinary New Yorkers."

Albert Pirro, a longtime lobbyist and GOP fund-raiser, was convicted of federal tax evasion in 2000 and embarrassed his wife again when DNA proved he had fathered a daughter by another woman.

Jeanine needed to stop acting like he didn't exist. Any bets on how long it will be before Albert begins making campaign speeches for Jeanine?

Update: New York Times article, Pirro Stands By Her Man.
