Hurricane Katrina Lands at Miami-Broward Border

For our readers in Miami, experiencing Hurricane Katrina, and those bummed out by the MTV Award pre-show cancellations:The Grateful Dead (sing along with an audio clip here):

What do you want me to do,
to do for you to see you through?
this is all a dream we dreamed
one afternoon long ago
Walk out of any doorway
feel your way, feel your way
like the day before

Just a box of rain -
wind and water -
Believe it if you need it,
if you don't just pass it on
Sun and shower -
Wind and rain -
in and out the window
like a moth before a flame

It's just a box of rain
I don't know who put it there
Believe it if you need it
or leave it if you dare.

That song can cheer anyone up.

Wow, what force the storm came in (thankfully it was not a category 5 afterall). Funny how everyone was told to goto the Dome, it looks like the first place I would visit if i was a huricane! Thankfully everyone had suffient notice to leave the area (if they had an alternative). A website on http://www.sparesomechange.com (poverty portal and homless search engine) may be able to help find homeless resources in near by counties and states down south (near New Orleans) like Florida and Louisiana... BTW, stop looting Walmart and hope everyone is well, my heart goes out to you and your families!

Thanks. That was appreciated. Brings back...hmmm....fuzzy memories.

Oh yeah, the memories. Every now & then I just really miss Jerry. I saw about 40 or so Dead shows when I was young (not to date myself but young meaning 17-24)and my memories are more than just "fuzzy." What a musician.

As a Floridian I appreciate your attempt to cheer us up Jeralyn, but I never thought of "Box of Rain" as a particularly "happy" song. Still, its one of my favorite songs by the Dead.

God is still pissed at Florida.

I'm down here in Broward County, not much of a hurricane really just a nice 70 mph breeze. Of course a number of stupid people who insist on going out in such weather get killed. It's quite revealing of people's priorities, putting their things ahead of their own lives, and you wind up dead, no surprise.

As Don Henley once sang, "Hearses don't have luggage racks."
