Maureen Dowd: "Neigh to Cronies"

by Last Night in Little Rock

Maureen Dowd's op ed piece in the NY Times today is priceless: "Neigh to Cronies." She weighs in, too, on trusting the Federal Emergency Mismanagement Agency, which used to be an important position, to utterly experienceless cronies.

The breakdown in management and communications was so execrable that the president learned about the 25,000 desperate, trapped people at the New Orleans convention center not from Brownie, who didn't know himself, but from a wire story carried into the Oval Office by an aide on Thursday, 24 hours after the victims had been pleading and crying for help on every channel. (Maybe tomorrow the aide will come in with a wire story, "No W.M.D. in Iraq.")

"Getting truth on the ground in New Orleans was very difficult," a White House aide told The Times's Elisabeth Bumiller. Not if you had a TV.

. . .

While many see the hideous rescue failures as disaster apartheid, Barbara Bush and other Republicans have tried to look on the bright side for the victims. The Wall Street Journal reported that Representative Richard Baker of Baton Rouge was overheard telling lobbyists: "We finally cleaned up public housing in New Orleans. We couldn't do it, but God did."

Meanwhile, FEMA (Forget Every Minority American) shirts are available on eBay.

OT Lawyers who can should donate their services to people who have been effected by the disaster. Many people are going to need help knowing what their rights are --especially their right to return. Many people left with nothig but the promise of a shelter bed and a one way ticket. If you have evacuees in your community - please make sure their rights are protected

sorry, i have little, if any use for ms. dowd, since she is, in no small measure, responsible for helping put bush in the white house, not once, but twice. she is merely a high class idiot.

simply put, she lied in her column about gore, before and during the 2000 campaign. she, and frank rich, created the "love story" lie about gore, among many others. she helped publicize others, such as the "gore claims to have invented the internet" lie. you could actually call her the "queen of fake facts". these lies indisputably helped propel bush into the white house, where he was then able, by virtue of more lies told about kerry, to get re-elected. tell you what you do, in lieu of my taking up valuable space here, because the list is so long, go to any search engine, and put her name in it. it should give you the vast panorama of her idiocy. with friends like this, liberals don't need a right-wing. go to thedailyhowler.com or mediamatters.com, use their search engines. prepare to be amazed! in her defense, she's not alone, the pseudo-liberals in the MSM just luvvvvvvvvv fake facts, they thrive on them. she just happens to be among the worst.

There was another case of political cronyism, the Coalition Provisonal Authority in Iraq. Bush packed the CPA with Bush campaign workers, political appointees, and ex-Capital Hill staff members. And we know how well that worked out. I agree with Dowd that there are just some offices where you should not put political cronies. For example, when incompetence can result in the loss of human lives, you might want to consider qualifications other than political affiliation.
