Stones Concert Stopped for Bomb Search

The AP reports:

The Rolling Stones' concert at the University of Virginia was interrupted Thursday night while several police officers and three bomb-sniffing dogs searched the stage. The show resumed after about a half-hour intermission. University, state and city police did not immediately return phone calls about the incident, and no announcement was made to the audience about the reason for the break.

If it was a rave, they would have also brought in the drug dogs, arrested half of the audience and the promoters and shut the concert down.

Oh, for crying out loud! I can't keep up with this! What? If they have enough police with available time, why don't they send them to New York? Why not let them sift through the contents of confiscated TalkLeft backbacks on the New York subways? This is reminiscent of the FBI persecution of John Lennon. Oh, now I remember. The Stones come out with a disparaging song about Iraq and Bush, a month or so ago.

Jumpin' Jack Flash, Start Me Up, and Paint it Black, there's more than pyrotechnics in that flashpot, Batman. Anything is possible and very little is preventable -- if we're talking bombs, that is.

And if this WAS some kind of administration payback, well, they're even more stupid than they were yesterday. Like I said, anything is possible.

Possibly freeper meltdown. They are so panicky that now they are calling in phony bomb threats?

Back in olden times, I was at the old Fillmore East when there was a bomb threat in the middle of a show. IIRC, the bill was the Allman Brothers and Elvin Bishop.

Uh huh. Sure. All those police were just itching to come out and work their behinds off looking for a bomb that might be there and might go off while they were near it. Yes, no doubt about it. Did any of you ever think about looking up "grateful" in the dictionary? Discouraging is the nicest word I can think of regarding your comments.

I was @ the concert in Charlottesville. Various news reports said it took 30 to 45 minutes before the Stones decided whether to make or break. It was over an hour, luckily they did not cancel the show. I think any newsgroup Drudge, ABC, newsblogs need to get they're stories straight before reporting what they 'think' happened. :\ Oh...and there were four bomb sniffing dogs not three and 25 rows of chair on the floor that were evacuated, not 20. Sheesh. The show was good, the bomb threat stunk and alot of peeps with kids went home.

Thanks, Jack. I was hoping someone who was there would tell us what happened.
