Bump and Update: Here's the Daily News story:

Cheney's name has come up amid indications Fitzgerald may be edging closer to a blockbuster conspiracy charge - with help from a secret snitch. "They have got a senior cooperating witness - someone who is giving them all of that," a source who has been questioned in the leak probe told the Daily News yesterday.

Raw Story reports that the New York Daiy News will report in Tuesday's edition that a high level White House official has flipped and is now helping Fitzgerald.

We'll know in a few hours what the Daily News has to say, but I predict if it's true, it's Karl Rove who flipped on Friday and gave up Cheney. Karl Rove attended most of the meetings of the White House Iraq Group and according to Raw Story's report, the flip has something to do with a source now advising that Cheney personally attended two of the meetings where Kristof's May, 2003 New York Times article and Pincus's June 2003 WaPo article on Joe Wilson were discussed. Cheney has said he didn't know about Wilson until after Wilson's July 6 op-ed appeared.

Why would Rove's latest grand jury appearance have taken 4 1/2 hours if all he was talking about was his conversation with Matthew Cooper and e-mail to Stephen Hadley?

My prior speculation that Rove might flip on Libby and Cheney:

Was it through attending meetings of the White House Iraq Group with Lewis Libby? ...My question: Has Rove thrown Libby (and possibly Cheney) into the lion's den?

Does he [Rove]have plans to give up the White House Iraq Group or is it too late? Or did he already do it?

    Random idea with no support but intellectual musing. What if its Colin Powell who flipped? Maybe he decided this would be the first step on reclaiming his dignity and role of a trusted Savant with in the body politic. He might figure since his son has comfortably been "cashed Out" that he no longer likes the role of a shill and will try to reclaim some respect. A bit like Kissenger playing up how he stayed with Nixon to act as a sane man in a house full of drunken stressed out paranoids. Ignore the fact that in both cases they helped those stressed out paranoid drunks to gain that power.

    At the risk of being simplistic, if pressure "flips" people, right now Libby is the one under pressure from the testimony, and Miller is the one under pressure from the press. Now, about those Aspens...

    So Rove makes a deal, gets a slap on the hand, throws his "friends" to the wolves (enough cliches?) and..... Rove gets away again.

    My bet is that its Karl Rove. Right now Rove is spinning a tale more convincing than that of Verbal Klint. Like Special Agent David Kujan, Fitzgerald's believing every word. Once Rove is home free, Fitzgerald will realize that he was duped by the evil actor (Keyser Soze).

    Most likely several have 'flipped'. The skillful pressure we saw Fitzgerald applied to Libby and Miller so that she could 'save face' and give testimont has most likely been going on with others since he started his investigation. Gannon/Guclert has most certainly squealed like a pig, Fleisher, Powel, Novak, et.al. Fitzgerald squeezes from the bottom to get to the top.
