Is Rove Cooperating?

In response to Monday's New York Daily News article reporting that a high-level White House official had flipped, I speculated that it was Karl Rove, and that he had decided to throw Cheney and Libby under the bus. It turned out that the News article was not referring to Rove. But with today's Daily News article, I'm again drawn to this theory.

I have just written a piece outlining the theory. But, I'm stuck on whether Rove would also try to save Cheney, even though he blames him for this whole mess, as a means of protecting Bush's legacy -- or whether, Cheney can't be saved from being at least an unindicted co-conspirator because of the timeline of Wilson's allegations, so he didn't.

Before publishing it, and perhaps making a total fool of myself, I'd like a national MSM reporter who has been covering the story to read it. If any happen to read this and are interested, please e-mail me.

Update: I think I've found my answer. No need for anyone to read it. I'm refining it and will be publishing it soon, probably in bits and pieces.

    Have you seen this AP story?
    Rove told grand jurors it was possible he first heard in the White House that Valerie Plame, wife of Bush administration Joseph Wilson, worked for the CIA from Libby's recounting of a conversation with a journalist, according to people familiar with his testimony.

    I used to lead my life like you, afraid to make a total fool of myself in public. But let me tell you, once I fell, I found that life was so much easier when you're not afraid of making a total fool of yourself. Granted, it does seem harder to get a nice table in a restaurant now.

    That said, I can not imagine you making a fool of yourself, Jeralyn, on any of this material. Perhaps dancing with the Jeoffry Ballet at Lincoln Center, NYC, maybe, but not writing, and especially not writing about Rove. You may not get it all right but your track record is quite high. You are not MSM, thank god, which us why we love you, so go for it!!

    The NY Daily News story that President Bush was furious with Karl Rove for his part in outing a CIA agent could be devastating for Bush. The News says Bush and Rove discussed Rove's involvement in the Plame case, after the Justice Department told the White House in September of 2003 a criminal investigation had been launched into the leak. If the report is correct, it is significant, because it occurred before Bush was interviewed by special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald in June of 2004, an interview in which sources say Bush insisted Rove assured him he wasn't involved in outing Valerie Plame. If the Daily News is right, Bush lied to Fitzgerald, which is obstruction of justice, a felony. It's time for the President to come clean.
