Report: Indictments May be Announced Today

Thanks to TChris for providing updated Indictment news while I was in court this morning.

Here's an update: UPI reporter Richard Sale (who has been right on the money in this case and had this news-breaking article back in February, 2004) writes on Col. Patrick Lang's weblog that Indictments will be announced today and Fitzgerald will hold a press conference tomorrow.

In this entry, also today, Sale reports that Stephen Hadley, formerly the Deputy National Security Adviser, is a strong possibility for an Indictment. (Question: Was he Novak's source?)

And, Fitzgerald is looking at a Section 1983 civil rights charge for violating Joseph Wilson's civil rights. (Question: What about the rights of his wife Valerie?)

    Now CNN reports: The federal grand jury investigating the leak of a CIA operative's identity adjourned Wednesday afternoon and Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald made no public announcement of any action. Do you think Fitz still has something up his sleeve? Or will he announce later?

    Stephen Hadley is not at the State Dept. He is the NSA at the WH -- taking over from Condi Rice. He was her number two at the time of the Plame affair.

    What's up with the mention of Gen. Wayne Downing and Frances Brooke at the end of that piece? I was reading up on Downing and saw that he hired Linda Flohr, a 27 year vet of the CIA clandestine service, when he headed the joint US-UK Coalition Information Center (later renamed the Office for Global Communications). Downing also was the mastermind of what Anthony Zinni called "the Bay of Goats" plan, the vestige of which could be seen when the DoD landed Ahmed Chalabi in Iraq with his "Free Iraqi Forces". Gen. Downing was also on the payroll of the INC. What does that have to do with the Niger forgeries? Can Fitzgerald be looking into violations of the Smith-Mundt Act, which prohibits distribution within the United States of official American propaganda which was intended for foreign audiences. Is that a small lever to pry out more information about the forgeries?
