WaPO: Woodward's Source Testified Previously

The denials and admissions keep coming regarding Bob Woodward's source for the information about Valerie Plame Wilson. The Washington Post reports Woodward's source has previously testified before the grand jury.

Karl Rove sources say he's not in jeopardy by Fitzgerald's decision to transfer the case to a different grand jury. Of course not --is there anyone left who doesn't believe his deal is in place, secured by his cooperation against others with possible criminal liability?

Condoleeza Rice aides have come forward and said she is not the leaker.

Raw Story continues on its theme of Stephen Hadley being Woodward's source, noting:

Hadley was privy to a June 10, 2003 Intelligence and Research memo prepared by INR head Carl Ford for Undersecretary of State Marc Grossman at the request of Vice President Dick Cheney’s former Chief of Staff I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby.

Jane at Firedog Lake isn't buying Bob Woodward's story.

[hat tip to Patriot Daily.]

I'm not finding a direct link to an MSM article saying Hadley has testified to the grand jury, but it's unthinkable that Fitzgerald would overlook this, given the e-mail between him and Karl Rove about Matthew Cooper. If you find one, please leave it in the comments.

The denials come from the WH, fast and furious, and it is clear that you do a service by keeping score. It requires a spreadsheet. But, My wager is that when we finally do know who it was, it will be somebody who as of this date has already denied it. I hope I am wrong, because then it could be Cheney.

The Times of London is now also reporting that Woodward's source was Hadley (hat tip to Raw Story). The reporting looks identical to that of Raw Story on this topic, so perhaps the Times talked to the same "lawyers close to the investigation." Let's hope they didn't just take it from Raw Story. I agree with Jeralyn that Fitzgerald could not have neglected to take Hadley's testimony. That leads me back to my earlier theory that Hadley is also Novak's original source, and Fitzgerald already has some sort of deal with him. That's the only reason I can think of that he might hope to go back to Fitzgerald now and still avoid a false statements charge for having omitted telling Fitzgerald earlier. If Hadley was honest with Fitz about Novak, he might be believable in claiming he forgot about the earlier discussion until he was reminded by a phone call from Woodward.

You people never stop trying to shift attention away from where it belongs; why did we go to war with the backing of the media, the democrats and the warmongering WH? This odd unholy alliance. Why was it so easy? PS: I know I'm OT but I don't care.

You suggest a goal, to find out how it happened, but you do not suggest a method. What would be involved in a method? There are two general approaches employed by people. The first is 'thinking' about it; from this method are born myths, 'philosophies', 'conspiracy theories', and other falsehoods. The second method is to collect and analyze data. That's what people are doing here. We must know what happened, in detail, before we can know how it happened so easily. I propose patience—Patrick Fitzgerald is doing a lot of our work for us, but he cannot reveal much of what he's got to us, just yet.
