Crashing the Gate: Pre-Orders Available

Crashing the Gate by bloggers Markos Moulitsas Zuniga of Daily Kos and Jerome Armstrong of My DD is now available to pre-order.

Crashing the Gate is a shot across the bow at the political establishment in Washington DC and a call to re-democratize politics in America.

This book lays bare, with passion and precision, how ineffective, incompetent, and antiquated the Democratic Party establishment has become, and how it has failed to adapt and respond to new realities and challenges. The authors save their sharpest knives to go for the jugular in their critique of Republican ideologues who are now running—and ruining—our country.

Only 10,000 copies are being printed, so get your's now. Markos reports that as of 10 am this morning, 1472 copies have already been sold. Why order now? So the book can debut on the bestseller list, which in turn will help it reach more people.

I think we all know that the Dems are gonna split. The only real q is which side will stay and keep the name, and which will leave and start a new party. [BTW TL, get your's now? Normally, I don't worry about typos/spelling, but when you do it while touting a book....]

I won't buy this book. I'm completely sick of Kos's bashing of democratic moderates at the same time as he's constantly whining about the DLC for doing essentially the same thing he does. It's a major fatal error to mistake Kos's idea of 'netroots' with the kind of grassroots that actually gets off its butt and works for change.

First, you're not liberal if you support the DLC. If you are a Social and Economic liberal in America you cannot also support Neoliberal economic forces (aka proponents of Globalization) and the politicians that support that crap. We used to worry about monopolies, collusion, and over consolidated industries. Already once in the 20th century, Americans had to check the wanton abuse of Corporate power. Now, thanks to Neoliberalization and War Corporatism run amok, we have to worry about market incentives that drive our Corporate leaders to direct our government to assasinate foreign leaders, overthrow governments, torture people, and run gulags. Corporations avoid taxation, re-write our laws, steadily lower our quality of life in their practices, funnel jobs to countries with corrupt and oppresive governments while destroying our wages and livelihoods here at home. Suck dollars and raw materials away from foreign peoples. Etc. If you don't understand what this has to do with the DLC, then you don't have enough information to be spouting off on a blog about disloyal Liberals not supporting the DLC. Corporate directives drive DLC policy - don't believe it, ask yourself why the DLC leadership signed all the Neocon PNAC letters and memos about why Iraq had to happen. Ask why they all voted to allow the War in Iraq. Ask why they all voted for the Patriot Act. Ask why they all support NAFTA without any assurance of labor standards. If you don't understand the questions, you can't understand the answers either. Don't worry, Ras. Just like the legions of ignoratzi mainstream Republicans in America that consistently vote to make themselves more poor and less free, there are nearly an equal amount of Democrats in America that don't understand the difference between being Liberal and voting for any Democrat that comes down the pike. Come 2006/08, there will still be plenty of Democratic registered voters that will vote for a Democrat and think they are doing something to reign in Neoconservatism. If only that were so.

First, you're not liberal if you support the DLC. Wow, Tampa, I'd work a bit more on analysing comments before trying to make bold projections about future events. At no point did I say, anyone should support the DLC. That's your own imagination at work. I merely pointed out that Kos whines about the DLC. He whines about the DLC because they come up with analyses that are devisive to democrats -- they undercut democratic positions. He's a big cry-baby about this. Yet it's precisely the kind of activity that he engages in himself in regard to moderate democrats who he doesn't agree with. I'm not saying the DLC is a top-notch organization. In fact, I'm not saying whether they're good or bad. I'm just saying that the practices that he decries in them, he practices himself. You may think you can succeed without moderate democrats. That's fine and good luck. But it's an absurdity to go out and write a book claiming you're an authority on 'netroots', when in reality you're only representing an ideological rut that you've dug for yourself.

I made no bold projections of the future. I believe I only illustrated the status quo. An immoral status quo and a one party system. Your average American that walks around calling themselves a "Centrist" or "Moderate" quite often probably has no flipping clue exactly what that means. The Corporate Media has branded ideas like the Voting Rights Act a relic of "Far Left" social engineering. If that is a "Far Left" idea, then WTF is a "Centrist" idea? Leaving it to the states? So I may think "I can succeed" without "moderate Democrats". What is my definition of success, LM? Is it voting alongside a whole bunch of other people with dis-similar values so that I can say "I win" in national elections? That would be a pretty stupid way to reinforce my ego and if everyone buys into that idea, it results in helping perpetuate an immoral status quo. Perhaps you should work more on analyzing your own writing to make sure that you aren't endorsing something by demonizing a related idea. To do so intentionally -- well that would be the kind of dishonest rhetoric that Ras would write. Incidentally, I don't really care for Daily Kos either.
