Bob Novak Leaves CNN, Moves to Fox

Update: TV Newser reports Novak has been signed by Fox to be a contributor. Think Progress commenters called it.

Romanesko has a copy of CNN's Statement advising that Bob Novak is leaving the network.

"After 25 years of serving as a CNN commentator and program host, our colleague Bob Novak's tenure on the network will come to a close (effective 12/31). Through the years, Bob has offered incisive analysis for much of CNN's programming, including Crossfire, The Capital Gang, Inside Politics, Evans and Novak, The Novak Zone, and Novak, Hunt and Shields. Bob has also been a valued contributor to CNN's political coverage. We appreciate his many contributions and wish him well in future endeavors," said Jon Klein, president of CNN/U.S.

Media Matters delivered 5,000 signatures on a petition last week calling for his termination. They argued:

"While Mr. Novak remains suspended by CNN for uttering an obscenity on live TV and storming off the set, I hope they take the next appropriate step of not renewing his contract," said David Brock, President and CEO of Media Matters for America. "In addition to Novak's long history of spreading conservative misinformation on CNN, his credibility as one of the network's contributors has been severely compromised by his contradictory statements and accounts, as well as by his complete lack of candor, on the issue of his involvement in the outing of Valerie Plame."

    My money is on Novak at the pitching mound. He seems a lot more butch than O'Reilly.

    Is referring to them as a gay couple meant to be demeaning? I could care less if they were latent or blatant. it would seem to me that the greater concern would be for Novak's female assistants when they are near O'Reilly with a falafel...

    Nor could I care less. But to try and answer your question, it was meant as a playful jab at two total GOP thugs who probably are extreme homophobes, to boot.

    Fox News should consider dropping their Fair and Balanced trademark. With Novak and O'Reilly on the same network I wonder how long it will be before Fox is sued for false advertisement.

    Novak and his Chicklet-sized fake teeth oughtta fit nice and kentucky there in Foxville. It's like the Raiders hiring O.J.. And the already aged Fox demographic just got a few Polident tablets older. The sooner they die off the better. But, you know, I mean that nicely.

    Laby - I understand it was playful but if Newt Gingrich said that Ted Kennedy and Howard Dean probably should do less strategizing at a Russian Bath House......... we would be screaming.

    J, You mean, like if they said, for instance, that Hilary Clinton was a lesbian? She was the first lady at the time. In politics, one is advised to shower with bricks to prepare in the morning.
