CNN Takes A Far Right Turn

CNN has hired three new additions this month:

My view: This will hurt CNN in the longrun. First, it will be perceived as a chance to rival Fox News. Second, it will lessen CNN's credibility. CNN, while not the number one cable news network, has until now successfully fostered an image of being neutral, and a network to whom people turn when they want the news, not spin. They risk being perceived as a talk-tv rather than news channel.

Third, these hires are not experts on anything. There is no reason to watch them. Which means CNN is risking that people will hit the channel switch button when they come on. I know I will.

If CNN wants to boost their ratings, they should have searched for fair-minded journalists not second and third rate pundits.

If you'd like to weigh in with CNN, here's their contact form.

Why would Bill Bennett want to work for a bunch of liberals? Because there is no liberal MSM.

I was thinking a dumptruck full of cash. Besides, this is just as easy to spin as evidence that the MSM is biased to the left -- the FOX news / blogosphere right-winged media force has exposed the bias, and now CNN has to balance itself in order to compete.

I'll bet you $100 Bill Bennett will be a great commentator.

Heaven knows CNN always gave the straight dope on Saddam's Iraq. Oh wait, I forgot what Eason Jordan admitted about letting Saddam 'edit' thier reporting from there. And who could forget Peter Arnott's unbiased 'reporting'. Isn't CNN the only American news service with offices in Cuba? Wonder why? As far as hiring these fellows I have to agree that they are third string yakkers and Glen Beck is just juvenile. Out of all of them JC Watts might be OK. Overall CNN seems to be going towards the FOX opinion style shows in the evening and honestly it would be hard to be worse than 'Larry King Live'.
